Mitsubishi Electric is driving technology into the 21st Century with a superior range of inverters that will set the world standard for the next generation. With the A500 Series, the industry leader in automation products has achieved advanced dynamic performance that is simpler to use, more flexible and even more powerful than ever before. Specifically designed as a control solution for applications such as high speed lifting gear, air conditioning, line control and extrusion, the A500 Series combines sophisticated RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer), ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) and Advanced Flux Vector Control technology to enable dynamic control of any situation.

A major new feature is On Line Tuning OLAT which makes sure that the drives sensorless vector control is constantly optimised to keep it in tune with the motor as its operating temperature changes. This allows high precision performance and stable high torque operation throughout any duty cycle without an encoder. When an encoder is used with the motor, speed control increases from 120:1 to an incredible 1000:1, speed variation rate falls to 0.02% and zero speed holding torque of 150% is achieved (using FR-A5AP option card).

Smart and Friendly

The innovative smart driver ASIC helps the drive think for itself. Self-monitoring and control of the current allows for smoother rotation at low speeds and the increased current detection responsiveness greatly reduces tripping, particularly when switching occurs and when starting a reverse coasting motor.

q The life of the cooling fan has

been lengthened with new ONOFF control, and replacement has also been made easier in the form of a cassette.

Feature
Power down braking function

Benefit
Safely ramps down motor even if supply power to drive is cut Pump and fan operation perfect for applications in the water industry and HVAC Passenger elevators, hoisting Simple changeover to DOL operation e.g. for multiple pump sequencing Ideal for routers, spindle drives, woodworking machines etc.

PID control
q The parameter user group

function has been included as standard, so the required parameters can be selected and read or written. This makes control of parameters easier.

Brake sequencing function Contactor scheduling for isolator bypass
