anyway, Here is the method to calculate the state of a planet in a birth chart, __take the sign number of your LAGNA or ascendant, one to 12, then add to it the naksatra number of your moon, number one to 27, then had also the time elapsed from last sunrise to your birth time in ghatikas (1 ghatika is 24 minutes) so it will be a number from 0 to 59 (24 hours is 60 ghatika's), if it is 21.5 ghatika count 21. All this will give you a number from 2 to 106, it will be your A key number who will be unchangeable for your chart. You will use it then to calculate all the planets avasthas. __next is a table of 27 star numbers and 9 planets numbers from sun to Ketu, so you check out in which star is each planet then you get another number we call it B key, so you are going to have a B number for each planet. __now you multiply B x the number of ordinal degrees of the planet is in the zodiac sign (ex;sun in 12 degrees and 25 minutes virgo means the sun is in the 13th. Degree.) This final total number called C , now divide A + C by 12,the remainder from 0 to 11 will give you the avastha of the planet .(remainder 0= avastha # 12 )
