H.T, LT POWER AND CONTROL CABLE

15.4.1.1 This specification covers the design, procurement, shop testing, inspection, packing,

delivery and installation at Project Site of HT, LT Power and Control cables required as mentioned in the electrical scope of work. Design Criteria
15.4.2.1 The High voltage, XLPE insulated power cables will be mostly

installed in ventilated cable trays provided inside ducts/tunnels, with some cables installed underground.
15.4.2.2

Maximum temperature of conductor for continuous operation of cables shall not be more than 90C for cross linked polyethylene insulated cables. Temperature rise and withstand capacity for short circuit conditions should be 250 C.

15.4.2.3 The cable shall be able to carry the full load current of the circuit continuously under the specified ambient temperature and other conditions of installation. For this purpose, suitable derating factors shall be considered due to:
15.4.2.4 Thermal resistivity of soil 15.4.2.5 15.4.2.6

Ambient ground / air temperature

Derating factor for grouping of cables over the current ratings at normal conditions given in standards.

15.4.2.7 The cables for circuit breaker controlled circuits shall withstand the fault currents for the following fault clearing times.
