Notes: (con't) John Booker Used spelling of Bowker John Booker received a grant of 500 acres from Lord Granville's agent William Churton in 1761 in Orange County, NC. The land that he patented was at approximately the point where the modern counties of Wake, Chatham, and Cumberland meet. John and his wife Patience were both deceased by 1764 leaving son James and a daughter. Numerous descendants live in the Johnston, Wake, Orange, Durham counties area of NC today. John apparently lived in Granville County, NC just prior to his move to Orange Co. Edmund Booker I In Amelia in June 1736 coveying land from Edward of Essex near Richard Booker's mill. Represented the House Of Burgess in 1758 and died the next year. George Booker I It is possible that George married first, a Sarah Richardson, and then remarried Sarah Cobbs as late as 1757. At present, there is no knowndate of death for Sarah Cobbs. George was one of the signers of apetition by the Officers and Soldiers of Amerlia County, to theVirginia Convention of June 14, 1776. The petition asked that 250overseers in Amerlia County, exempt from military service by order ofthat convention, be ordered into service in case of invasion, (VAHistorical and Genealogical Magazine, Vol. 15, p.22). George's Willwas Proved on 22 December 1791, and names his children, all born inAmelia County, Virginia (Amelia Co., VA, Will Book 4, p.227).
