In Concert @ RPL: Bluegrass Greats Clay Lunsford and Wayne Henderson

Join us at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 10 for an evening of spectacular music. We are honored to host Clay Lunsford and Wayne Henderson, two of bluegrass music's most esteemed artists, at RPL Headquarters in Salisbury. Clay Lunsford is known as a guitar virtuoso and is the founder of the N.C. Thumb and Finger Style Guitar Players Association. Members of the Lunsford family have been performing gospel and mountain music throughout the southeast for almost a century. Clay has played for over fifty years in the style of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis. Wayne Henderson's top-notch finger-picking is a source of great pleasure and pride to his friends, family, and neighbors in Grayson County, Virginia; his guitar playing has also been enjoyed at Carnegie Hall, the White House, in three national tours of "Masters of the Steel -String Guitar", and in seven nations in Asia. In addition to his reputation as a musician, Henderson is a masterful guitar and mandolin maker. Wayne notes that "anytime someone will sit down and listen to me play, it's an exciting gig." Be sure to join us for this very special musical evening at the library!

On December 3, 2012, eight of the nine bookmark contest winners and their families arrived at the childrens room to be honored at a special reception given by the Friends of the Library. The children received wonderful prizes sponsored by the Friends of the Library, the Literary Bookpost, and Chick-Fil-A.
