Motivation Letter for the KIC InnoEnergy MSc EMINE Program

To me knowledge was always seen the same way a billionaire thinks of his bank account, valueless and must always be prone to addition. Due to this mindset of mine I gained strong analytical abilities which invariably attracted me to unresolved theoretical and mathematical problems either at the foundations of Science and mathematics or at the frontiers of technology. Challenge is the one thing that not only intrigues but also motivates me to discover unique solutions. The act of solving difficult problems not only provides an excellent way of gaining a significant amount of knowledge per unit time but also enables me to derive a deep sense of pride and satisfaction from my hard work. This ideology of mine was always the instrument and inspiration that helped me to achieve high success all throughout my academic life. As I have been brought up in a family which has strong inclinations towards science. I had developed a fascination for science from my childhood. This inclination towards science was further increased by my active participation in science fair in my school days. Because of this special interest towards science and specially physics and mathematics, . I decided to take science as my field of study. Consequently, during my GCE O levels and A levels not only I enjoyed all the science related courses but also managed to get praise worthy results which allowed me to obtain the nationwide famous Daily Star award two times . Noticing the amount of enthusiasm and energy in the physical and mathematical sciences, my teachers encouraged me to move forward in science and engineering. Eventually i got admitted in Islamic University of Technology (IUT), one of the most prestigious universities in Bangladesh which is sponsored by the OIC. Where apart from an undergraduate program in the Electrical and Electronics engineering discipline which is the top department I also received a 4 year scholarship, a privilege secured by those whose academic positions in the top 2% of students in the country During the four years of my undergraduate studies, I have gained a lot of theoretical, as well as practical knowledge in the core areas of basic engineering and sciences and advanced knowledge in Electrical and Electronic engineering, this together with hard labour allowed me to get a CGPAof3.8 out of 4. Allowing me to graduate with first class with honours . My 4 years of undergrad studies have dramatically changed my perceptions about research and plans for the future. As I have said before I had special interest in science especially physics , the topic that most fascinated me was radioactivity. This fascination evolved when i took Nuclear and particle physics during my A level physics course as an elective module . My experiences there was to me was breath taking. To see that the world was composed of subatomic particles and that all the basics interactions of nature were due to interaction between these particles completely blew me away. I was so impressed that i wanted to undergraduate in subjects related with it , but Bangladesh being a developing country did not have the infrastructure regarding this field so I was forced to choose something else. This dormant wish rekindled when i studied modern physics in my engineering courses during my early undergraduate years and grew more when an internal seminar on Atomic Power from Fusion Energy for the Power Station and energy Engineering course. There our professor discussed about the feasibility of operating a controlled Fusion reactor that could theoretically produce limitless energy. The rudimentary knowledge that I obtained created a deep impact in me and the itch to learn more on the topic has lasted in me ever since. But my biggest opportunity came when during our industrial tour I did a month long training and participation in Bangladesh Atomic Research Commission (BAEC), Savar The training has enabled me to work with some of the best minds involved in nuclear research and has dramatically influenced my perception towards the industry. The experiences during this training was a major eye-opener regarding the avenues and myriad uses for which Nuclear Science could be applied and used. It was through my personal correspondence with various people in BAEC that I learned of the various aspects and opportunities available in Nuclear Engineering . As a EEE student with a project on Medical Electronics in my undergraduate studies, the prospect of combining my Engineering background with a field of study with influences ranging from energy &medical applications to radiation detection to real-world applications of energy production was enticing, to say the least. The disciplines versatility allows for countless means by which to become involved in research and industrial projects with far-reaching impacts into the very foundations of society especially projects concerned with Despite conservationists efforts, natural resources are being depleted at an alarming rate. Research into alternative and efficient energy sources, nuclear power for example, can save tremendous amounts of money for future generations. Being able to contribute to nuclear energy research would be an exciting opportunity to make advancements with long-lasting impact, to the world and my country My long term career goals is be intimately involved in innovating research in the field of nuclear energy and use that knowledge in establishing a consultancy firm in Bangladesh who has already signed deals with Russia in making 2 power plants marking Bangladesh's entry into nuclear energy so as to become one of the pioneers in this sector of my country. Also I want to make original contributions in technologies in nuclear energy which will be affordable by third world countries ,which ultimately will be the means of energy stability in Bangladesh. I fully understand that a career in research and academics requires a high level of aptitude, dedication and willingness to work hard. the KIC InnoEnergy MSc EMINE program first came to notice while searching in the internet for a prospective graduate studies in Nuclear engineering. Information regarding institutes involved and facilities of the program shared at the KIC InnoEnergy helped in making it a preference. The distinguished Institutes involved and the excellent academic and training infrastructural facilities provided makes the graduate program a very attractive one . In addition its location in the Europe makes it an ideal environment for a student like me who always wanted to study in Europe Also it would be an exciting challenge and experience to be able to work with the distinguished faculty and institutes who are continually involved in nuclear energy sector. I do believe that, I will have the best lesson and get the ample opportunity to familiar myself with researches in this area. I am confident that I have the qualifications that would meet the requirements for the MSc program in Nuclear Energy offered by the KIC InnoEnergy MSc EMINE program In conclusion, I would also like to add that knowledge and proper guidance are the essentials for continuous progress in life. and that happens best when a synergetic relationship exists between student and his faculty exist . I am sure, the quality knowledge and impeccable guidance from this program would pave my way for constant growth as a person and a professional, . Hence I would be grateful to you if Im accorded the opportunity to pursue the MSc degree offered by your program and am able to justify your faith in me.
