Christmas Tree Ordering and Word Problems by Ms.

Take the cards in this kit and order from smallest to largest in height. However, you must solve the word problems for each card first! Convert all tree heights to feet.

Your teacher saw a Christmas tree the other evening that stood 4 yards and 1 foot tall. (3 feet= 1 yard) The famous Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in New York City stands one foot shorter than of 100. A tree made it into the Guinness Book of World Records last year in Mexico. It stood approximately 361 feet tall. Grace was Christmas shopping at Wal-Mart and decided on a Christmas tree that stood 84 inches tall.

Daniel brought home a Christmas tree that stood 1 foot, 2 inches taller than him. His height is 5 feet, 9 inches tall. The tree displayed at the Blue Room at the White House must stand exactly 18 feet tall (and fit through a doorway approximately 58 inches wide). The first tree displayed at the Capital was a live 24-foot tall Douglas fir tree that was purchased from a tree nursery in Pennsylvania.

The Fraser fir tree is the most popular tree used as a Christmas tree in the world. They grow in mountain regions. The tallest ever of these trees stood 13 feet shorter than 100 feet. Andrews family has a Christmas tree farm. His favorite tree his family chose for Christmas stood exactly 2 yards, 2 feet, and 2 inches tall. (3 feet=1 yard)
