Why do I need this medicine?

Methylprednisolone helps relieve inflammation and itch that may occur with certain skin problems and allergies. Methylprednisolone may also be used to prevent organ transplant rejection after a transplant. Methylprednisolone may be used for other purposes as decided by your doctor. Methylprednisolone belongs to a group of medicines called steroids.

How do I take this medicine?

Take Methylprednisolone exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor. If you are taking Methylprednisolone for a prolonged period of time, it is important that you do not stop it suddenly. Your doctor will advise you about reducing the dosing gradually. Take Methylprednisolone with food or after a meal. Try to take it at the same time each day.

What should I do Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. if I have forgotten to take this medicine? If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule. DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

When should I not use this medicine?

Alert your doctor if you have any of these conditions: - heart, liver, kidney or thyroid disease - diabetes - gastric problems, especially ulcers or blockages - myasthenia gravis - epilepsy (seizures or fits) - fungal infection, chicken pox or herpes infection - depression or other mood disorders - recent heart attack Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or if you become pregnant while being treated with Methylprednisolone. Alert your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while being treated with Methylprednisolone.

What should I using this medicine?

Alert your doctor if you have glaucoma, cataracts, osteoporosis or high

take note of while blood pressure. Do not give Methylprednisolone to a child unless instructed to do so by the child's doctor. If your child is taking Methylprednisolone, he may need to have his height monitored regularly. The doctor will advise you if this is necessary and how often it should be done. Alert your doctor if you experience any sudden weight gain, swelling of legs or arms, breathlessness, stomach pain, severe vomiting, black or thick stools, extreme tiredness, muscle weakness or unusual mood swings. Methylprednisolone may also cause increased growth of hair on the face, muscle and bone ache, eyesight problems. However, these side effects are usually not common and not a cause for concern, especially if you are taking Methylprednisolone for a short period of time only. Alert your doctor if you experience any discomfort that does not go away. Can I take this with other medicines? - antifungals such as itraconazole, ketoconazole, amphotericin B - antibiotics - diabetes medicines - heart or blood pressure pills such as digoxin, verapamil, diltiazem - ciclosporin - birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy containing Alert your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially those listed here:
