Magellan Maestro 3100 Region Update 2.

18 PLEASE PRINT THESE INTRUCTIONS Follow this guide to update your Magellan Maestro 3100 with maps for Hawaii and Puerto Rico, and increase your Points of Interest to 1.3 Million. The update process will take approximately 45 minutes. NOTE: This update is COMPATIBLE ONLY with Windows XP. Before Beginning: Check to make sure you have everything required for updating your unit: Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS PC running Windows XP A Blank SD memory card (16 MB to 2GB) USB cable Paper clip or similar object (for resetting your unit)

EACH OF THE FOLLOWING POINTS IS CRITICAL TO THE UPDATE PROCESS 1) The battery of your Maestro 3100 must be fully charged before beginning the update. NOTE: It takes between 3 and 4 hours to fully charge the battery with your vehicle power adapter. Check System Settings to ensure the battery is fully charged. 2) Your Address Book will be erased during the process. Please back up your data to an SD memory card. a. Insert a blank SD memory card b. Select User Options c. Select Backup and Restore d. Select Yes to confirm 3) Do not connect your Maestro 3100 to your PC until instructed to do so by the Update Wizard. 4) Close all other applications while performing the update. 5) Disconnect all Pocket PC devices from the USB ports on your PC. 6) Insert a blank SD card (16 MB to 2GB) into your Maestro 3100. 7) Perform a hard reset on your Maestro 3100 by pressing a paper clip or similar object into the hole marked reset. Update Process: 1) Launch the Magellan_Maestro_3100_2_18.exe file. 2) Select Next on the Welcome screen. 3) Turn on your Magellan Maestro and connect the USB cable.

NOTE: You may be prompted to install a driver to establish connectivity between your Maestro and your PC. Refer to the Instructions for Driver Installation below. 4) If the Windows Logo window appears, select Continue Anyway. 5) Select Next. The update process will begin. A bar will indicate the progress of the update. Do not power off your Maestro. Do not disconnect the USB cable, or remove the SD memory card during the update process. 6) Select Finish. 7) Disconnect the USB cable from your Maestro. Do not power off your Maestro or remove the SD memory card. Your Maestro will power itself off and on multiple times. This is normal during the process. Your Maestro will complete the update process by copying files from the SD card. When completed, your Maestro will reboot to the Warning screen. 8) You may now remove the SD memory card. 9) If the update is interrupted or fails for any reason, run the Update Wizard again before contacting Technical Support. Instructions for Driver Installation (Only required if prompted) If the Found New Hardware Wizard appears during the update process, follow the instructions to install the necessary driver. (A driver is a small piece of software that enables communication between your computer and a connected device.)

Select No, not this time. Then select Next to install the driver

Select Install the software automatically (Recommended). Then select Next. Your PC will search for the driver and prepare to install it.

If the Windows Logo window appears select Continue Anyway.

After the Found New Hardware Wizard has installed the driver select Finish and continue the update process.
