His name is Levi and he is 33 years old. He is from Zhuzhou city, Hunan province in China. Levi was hired as the new director in September this year. He quickly gained the trust of the care center workers and children. They all respect his kindness and the way he handles people and daily activities.

He has been married for nine years and his wife is 30 years old. They have a daughter who is 9 years old and a son who is 8 years old. His wife grew up as an orphan. When she was only a year old, her father died and her mother remarried. She was left in the care of her grandfather after her mother left home. Levi's background includes property management and preaching. In 2003, he started his own property management company in his hometown. He began preaching in his hometown in 2005. Five years later, he gave up interest in his

company and began only serving and helping orphans and other brothers and sisters from his congregation. Before he was hired by the Chinese Agape Foundation, he visited the North Canton Christian Care Center in Longhui, Hunan. He has been zealous in his work with helping orphans for many years now. It happened the day I met Yang Mei Xue at the Chicago airport. She was flying back home to China after recovering from life saving heart surgery made possible by so many charitable people. Her story, like so many other children under the protective care of Chinese Agape is one of determination, courage and hope. There was just something special about this young girl. From the moment I met her, I could see a scared and vulnerable child that was lost in many ways. I was the pilot on her flight and I was determined to make sure her flight home was safe and comfortable for her. Little did I know of her story but I felt my protective instincts kicking into high gear. After we landed, she came up to the cockpit to say thank you and good-bye. We took a photo or two and then, she was gone. Gone from the airplane but very much with me in my thoughts and already she had made her way into my heart. I just wasn't aware yet how much she had touched me but I knew I had to find out more about this special young girl. Through Chinese Agape, I was able to make contact with her and I eventually became her co-sponsor. I was able to write her a letter shortly after my return to America re-introducing myself and also to acknowledge her bravery for making such a journey on her own. With the passage of time, we exchanged

many letters and began to develop trust in our friendship. In our exchanges, I encouraged her as much as possible, and also shared with her stories from my youth. Some stories were fun to recall, others were lessons I had learned along the way and were designed to help motivate her to work hard in school and most of all, to believe in herself. I believe in her. With that belief, anything is possible! In October, the opportunity of a lifetime had come and I was able to arrange a trip to visit her at the Neil Taylor Christian Care Center in Rongshui, Guangxi Province. I can't even begin to express how emotionally touched I was by reuniting with her. Mei Xue's radiant smile could melt an iceberg and warm even the coldest of hearts. But there was no need for that as she already had mine. The weekend visit was full of fun organized by director David Xue. Many of the children residing at NTCCC joined our activities of hiking, biking, and visiting the Miao tribal village along the Bei Jiang River. So many of these precious angels reached out to extend their warm and welcoming hands, smiles, and laughter to me. I have to say, there is nothing like the unconditional love of a child reaching out like that!

These children all want to be loved and feel like they are important to others. They sure were to me! I particularly love knowing that I am helping to make a positive difference in Mei Xue's young teenage life. But that's not quite the end of this story for Mei Xue has done more to positively influence me and touch my heart than she will ever realize. When a child can have that kind of effect on an adult, there is something special happening. Without any doubt, it is God's love at work. That smile I mentioned-it is genuine and it is a reflection of His love that manifests itself through her soul. Those children all

need us, and we need to always keep them foremost in out thoughts and prayers, because we also need them every bit as much as they need us. Sam McLean, First Officer at American Airlines
