I have been asked a question many times is it okay to call the Creator of the Universe, Yahovah/Yehovah/Jehovah? As many teachers within the Hebrew and Messianic movements seem to use these names for the Creator. The issues I have when they say Yehovah or Yahovah or Jehovah are: 1) The Name YAH is removed from two of these names or more and replaced with the Yeh, this is a direct violation of Exodus 20:7. 2) The word hovah in Hebrew means-H#1943 hovah ho-vaw' another form for 1942; ruin:--mischief. which comes from 1942 H#1942 havvah hav-vaw' from 1933 (in the sense of eagerly coveting and rushing upon; by implication, of falling); desire; also ruin:-calamity, iniquity, mischief, mischievous (thing), naughtiness, naughty, noisome, perverse thing, substance, very wickedness. When one calls the Creator of the Universe and the Elohim of Yisrael by the name Yehovah/Yahovah they are in fact calling Him the following: Please note that many do not purposely or intentionally use Yahovah or Yehovah as listed, however due to the lack of understanding of the Hebrew language.
