What is the key strength of the Postgraduate Diploma in Management (Communications) PGDM (C) at MICA?

The curriculum of PGDM (C) ensures that students are exposed to the latest information and knowledge in the Communications Management domain. MICA students are equipped to manage business communications processes holistically. This includes the commissioning of research, seeking consumer insight, formulating strategies, evaluating media options, analysing sales and distribution channels, and thereby building brand equity creatively by sowing ideas and harvesting pragmatic solutions. 2. How is the programme offered by MICA different from those offered by other B-schools?

MICA offers a 2 year fully residential PGDM (C) programme, its flagship course, which stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Management and has a specialized focus on Communications Management and Marketing & Integrated Marketing Communications. This course helps to develop a holistic understanding of the Management and the growing importance of effective communication in business processes. 3. What are the eligibility criteria for applying to PGDM(C)?

Admission to the PGDM(C) programme requires a Bachelor's degree (in keeping with the 10 + 2 + 3 system) with minimum 50% marks, or an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Candidates appearing for final examinations towards a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) are also eligible to apply. Candidates who demonstrate aptitude for expressing, assessing, or conceiving ideas that move people to action and achieve business results tend to stand a better chance of being shortlisted. Candidates should apply to MICA through scores of either CAT 2012 / XAT 2013 / GMAT (December 31, 2007or later) 4. What is the admission process for the PGDM(C) programme at MICA?

The selection process for the PGDM (C) involves two steps (Batch 2013-15): Stage - I MICA Admissions Test (MICAT)

All candidates who apply to MICA through CAT/XAT/GMAT irrespective of their score, will be called for MICAT, subject to their application form being complete and accepted by MICA. MICAT is designed to assess analytical ability, divergent thinking, written communication skills and general awareness about the communications industry.

MICAT will be held in February/March 2013 at the following centres: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai. Note: MICA reserves the right to withdraw or introduce MICAT centres. Stage II Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI) Candidates will be invited for Group Exercise and Personal Interview to MICA campus, Ahmedabad based on their performance in MICAT and CAT/XAT/GMAT. 5. What is the Validity of CAT/XAT/GMAT?

Validity of CAT / XAT/ GMAT for admissions to 2013-15 batch, CAT: XAT: GMAT: 6. CAT 2012 score XAT 2013 score GMAT scores of 31st December 2007 onwards.

What is the pattern MICAT, GE and PI?

We expect our prospective candidates to be well-read, innovative, and intelligent with an analytical bent of mind. We also expect them to be aware of contemporary social and industry issues including general awareness towards marketing, advertising, and business issues. A regular habit of reading newspapers and practice in analytical and creative writing would be useful. The MICAT is designed to assess analytical ability, divergent thinking, written communication skills, and general awareness about the Communications industry. MICAT 2012 had the following patternPaper I: Part I- Questions related to reasoning and general awareness. Part II- Part II of the exam tests the written ability of the test takers. The candidates are given a topic and they have to write both for and against the topic. But in conclusion, one has to either support or oppose the motion. Not taking a stance would mean that one would not be marked for the essay writing. The next question in this section is that of story writing. On the basis of pictures given in the question, candidates have to write a story.

Paper II: Paper II of the exam consists of Psychometric Test. All the questions were compulsory. GE and PI: GE and PI - This consists of a series of interactions with candidates, on campus, to assess their suitability for the Communications Management industry. This does not require any prior preparation. 7. What is the cut off score for MICAT and GE/PI?

MICAT: All candidates who apply to MICA through CAT/XAT/GMAT irrespective of their score, will be called for MICAT, subject to their application form being complete and accepted by MICA. GE/PI: There are no standard cut-offs. Individuals taking the MICAT must attempt and complete all the sections of the test satisfactorily to qualify for GE & PI. Performance in MICAT and CAT/XAT/GMAT will be considered for shortlisting for GE/PI. 8. Is there any weightage given to work experience, for admission to PGDM(C)?

MICA prefers incumbent candidates to have relevant work experience. This is, however, not a precondition for applicants seeking admissions to the PGDM(C), and there is no weightage given to candidates with work experience. 9. What are the specializations offered in MICA?

The following specializations are offered in the second year of the programme Brand Management Account Planning Marketing Research Media Management The single most important aspect that makes MICA stand apart from the other management schools in the country is the strength and design of its curriculum. The specializations in the curriculum are continuously updated based on feedback from alumni and faculty drawn from practicing professions and academics.

What are the placement statistics of MICA?

MICA awards a diploma called PGDM(C) which is approved by AICTE. 12. What is the number of seats in PGDM(C)?

The maximum intake for PGDM (C) is 180 students. 13. Apart from academics, what are the other on campus activities in MICA?
