Brief Course Descriptions: This course is designed for exposure of students to circuits and systems design techniques for radio communications leading towards the recent research in thedomainofadvancedradiotechnology. Inthefirsthalfofthecourse, studentswillbeexposedtothefundamentalconceptsofpassive andactivecircuitsdesignatradiofrequencies.Thesefundamentalconceptsrequiresubstantial understandingoftransmissionlinetheoryandSmithchartandthereforethiscoursewillstart withthoroughdiscussiononthesetwotopics.Thishalfalsoincludestrainingofstudentsonthe commercialsoftwaretoolknownasAdvancedDesignSystem(ADS).Thestudentswillhaveto subsequentlydoseveraldesignassignmentsusingADS. In the second half of the course, students will be trained on more advanced topics such as Power Amplifier, Coupler, Power Divider, Power Combiner, and Linearizer. The students will then do projects (in a group of two) on their chosen topics and will present their findings in frontoftheclass.
