HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 34-36; Matthew 10:1-21 Monday, January 14 Isa. 40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. Good Shepherd: The sheep in your flock are in a diversity of experiences. Some are strong in the Lord, others are weak in faith, but some are not even part of the fold yet. It is for these that I especially pray. You have an impartial care for your sheep. I thank you the weakest is as dear to you as the most mature. I am apt to lag behind, prone to wander, wont to grow weary. But from all these dangers and infirmities you protect me with your arm of power. Now go further and bring __________ and __________ into the fold of the faith! Can I just pause and praise you this winter? When you find a new-born soul, like a young lamb, you nourish it until it becomes discipled. You find weak faith ready to faint and fail, and console it and renew its strength. All the little ones you gather to yourself if they die before their time. You have such a tender heart of care! In your lifetime on earth you drew men and women unto yourself and under your wings. Do so today now that you dwell in heaven. Bring together the meek and the convicted, the timid and the feeble, the fearful and the fainting. Thank you for gathering me to yourself, your truth, your blood, your love, and your church. What effective grace! And how often have you restored and revived me since I got saved. How shall I love you enough? How shall I serve you worthily? Help me make your name great to the ends of the earth (and in my own neighborhood). Add to your mercies this one other: that I might have a heart to love you more as I ought to. In Jesus name I ask it. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 43-45; Matthew 12:1-25 Thursday, January 17 Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 37-39; Matthew 10:22-42 Tuesday, January 15 Matt. 26:52-53 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? Lord of Angels and Demons: Even in your humiliation you were still sovereign Lord of everything, but especially of the unseen world and the armies that populate it. Let me learn from you, Master, to reckon on invisible assistance. I do not trust in that which is seen by the eye or heard by the ear. I respect the spiritual agencies that evade my senses but are seen by the eye of faith. Heb. 1:14 Are [angels] not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Lord Jesus, you can raise friends up for me on earth. But if you do not do so, I will trust you to send abler friends from heaven to my aid. There is no need for me to rashly reach for the sword and cut off somebodys ear (like Peter did in verse 51). Instead, make me like the nobleman to whom you said, John 4:48-49 Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. His faith did not just make him seek you in prayer, but made him persistent in prayer. I dont have to pay attention to spiritual forces as long as I am seeking your spiritual presence. I say, I cannot let you go unless you save my childmy spouse, my parent, my friend. Is there anything I can say to get you to save them? My lips are not eloquent but my tears are expressive. Those who come before you with cold prayers never find peace. Heat my requests in a furnace of desire so they can burn their way to heaven! I distill my soul into this concentrated cry; Holy Ghost, stir me to greater faith. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 46-48; Matthew 12:26-50 Friday, January 18 Heb. 13:15 By [Jesus] therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, Almighty and Ever-living God: You teach us to make prayers and supplications and give thanks for all people. So we humbly ask you to accept our sacrifice of praise. Receive our prayers, offered up to your Divine Majesty. Inspire our whole church with the spirit of truth, unity and harmony. Grant us that all those who confess the name of Christ can agree as to the truth of your word, and live in unity and godly love for one another. We beg you also to save and protect all Christian politicians, so under them we can be godly and quietly governed. Grant that all who are put in authority (believer or unbeliever) will truly and impartially administer justice, punish wickedness and vice, and maintain true virtue and right. Give grace O Father, to all our pastors, missionaries and ministers of the gospel, so both by their life and by their doctrine they can lay out your true and living word, rightly dividing your truth, and administering your ordinances. To all your people give heavenly grace, especially to our congregation on Sunday, so with meek heart and reverent spirit we will hear and receive your word. That is the only way we can really serve you in holiness and righteousness all the days of our lives. I humbly ask you for your goodness. Comfort and sustain all those who are in trouble, pain or sorrow in this transitory life. If they have some need or adversity, then allow them to rejoice that it creates a dependence on you. Let us live by your faith and fear. Give us grace to follow the good examples of our disciplers so with them we can be partakers of revival together. Grant this O Father, for Jesus Christs sake, our only Mediator and Advocate. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 40-42; Matthew 11 Wednesday, January 16 Job 23:4 I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. My Father and My God: WHAT ORDER SHOULD I OBSERVE IN PRAYING FOR REVIVAL? First, I have to feel like I am doing something real, humbly petitioning for mercy through the Saviors blood. When I feel like I am in the presence of God, then I can take my rightful place in that presence. Second, I have to recognize I have no right to what I am seeking. I can never expect to get it except as a gift of your grace. My only hope of mercy is grace, because that is what brings you glory. Help me remember that you have narrowed the options through which you will give me mercyit comes only through your dear Son. I put myself right now, by prayer, under the patronage of the great Redeemer. Let me feel like it is no longer I that speak, but Christ who speaks with me. While I plead, I plead his five wounds pouring out blood for me. I plead his spotless life, his sacrificial death, and his infinite self. This is truly ordering my cause. Third, I must consider what I will ask for. I want to aim at clarity and be definite, direct and distinct in my heart-cry for revival. If I ordered my cause, it would focus my mind. This is my prayer closet. It is not necessary for me to ask for every imaginable good thing, or catalogue every want that I have and need that I feel. But what I need right nowmy present needis revival. That is my daily bread. Eloquence and oratory mean nothing to you. My words are few, but my heart is fervent. Fourth, I ask for it through Jesus Christ. Some prayers would never be offered if I just thought. This one I offer because I do think, and love you Lord. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 49-50; Matthew 13:1-29 Saturday, January 19 Psa. 119:1 ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. Almighty Father: Here in the longest Psalm I find food for my deepest thoughts on you and your word. It challenges me to wider breadth of thought and higher fervor. It is a song like the celestial city, which lays foursquare (Rev. 21:16). The more I study your word, and pray as I study, the fresher it becomes. The more I look into this mirror, the more I see my own heart becoming gracious. Lord, this Psalmist sets your word in many lights and treats it in different ways, but he almost never fails to mention the word of God in each and every verse, under one of the ten names that he knows it. Here: Cause me to follow you sincerely, intensely and completely so I will be preserved from defilement (1). I seek you with the whole heart so you can enable me to keep your testimonies (2). You have commanded a holy walk, so keep me back from iniquity (3). Bless and give me a practical holiness (4). Give me more direction toward keeping your statutes (5). My comfort and courage depends on respecting your commands, because only then will I stand unashamed at your appearing (6). Even while I am learning your word, my heart will be full of thanksgiving (7). Give me enabling grace so I will not miss your blessing (8). I am enraptured with the word of the Lord. I regard being conformed to it in my daily living as the highest form of blessing. Holy Father, help me along in this walk to progressive sanctification. Even though it will not be complete in this life, let me compete in this life to make it grow greater every day, every week, every month that I breathe. Holiness only comes by my alliance to your Holy Bible and the operation of your Holy Spirit. Help me now by these. Amen.

GOD is here, and that to bless us with the Spirits quickning power;
See, the cloud already bending, waits to drop the grateful shower. God is here! we feel His presence in this consecrated place; But we need the soul refreshing of His free, unbounded grace. God is here! oh, then, believing, bring to Him our one desire, That His love may now be kindled, till its flame each heart inspire. Savior, grant the prayer we offer, while in simple faith we bow, From the windows of Thy mercy pour us out a blessing now. Let it come, O Lord, we pray Thee, Let the shower of blessing fall; We are waiting, and expecting, Oh, revive the hearts of all. James M. Black, 1856-1938

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

5:00P.M. (New Service Time!) The Next Level The philosophy and function of Discipleship. We cant make cookie-cutter Jesus copies. If we could, then Christianity would be counterfeited by the Devil. Instead, Christianity has to come passed-down through human DNA in a one-on-one process called Discipleship. Come learn how to pass-on life with Christ to someone else, Sunday nights at 5:00pm. GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
