PLATE TYPE HEAT EXCHANGER

AIM:To analysis the performance of an emissivity 1-1 counter current plate type heat exchanger. To calculate overall heat transfer coefficient and effectiveness for 1-1 counter plate type heat exchanger. INTRODUCTION:Heat exchanger is a process equipment designed for the effective transfer of heat energy between two fluids and hot fluids and coolent heat exchanger are classified into varying applications. OPERATING PRINCIPLE: Direct open heat exchanger Regenerator Recuperator

RELATIVE DIRECTION OF MOTION: Parallel flow Cross flow Counter flow MECHANICAL DESIGN: Concentric tubes Shell and tubes Multiple shell and tube passes

For moderate temperature and pressure was using plate type heat exchanger which consists of many coagulated stainless steel separated by polymer gasket and damped in a steel frame. The regulation induces turbulence for improved turbulence heat exchanger. The space between plates is equal in the depth of the coagulations and is usually 2-5 cms. A typical plate type design is made by polymer gasket and increase heat transfer rate.

Switch on the power supply ranging between 210- 240 volts to produce heat to the water which acts as a hot water inlet. Flow rate of the hot water outlet and cold water outlet are adjusted such that the both are same and measured using measuring flask. Water was circulated until steady state was reached and then inlet and outlet temperature was noted. ( W/m2C)

Repeat the experiment for various flowrate.

APPLICATIONS: Used oil moderate pressure and temperature In automobile radiators Evaporate of an Ice plates

RESULT:For a given plate type of heat exchanger Overall heat transfer coefficient, U = Effectiveness of the heat exchanger, E =
