The main function of modern microcontrollers is the operation in electronic systems. Availability of electrically reprogrammable program and data memory, a large number of registers and in-circuit resources provide really fantastic opportunities to solve many tasks of automation, including creating cheap measurement systems and controlling electrical circuits. In order to study modern microcontrollers the chair Industrial and Medical Electronics (IME) of TPU has bought several units of the STK500 starter kit. This kit was designing program code and testing it. The program; high-voltage STK500 has for of the following characteristics: compatibility with AVR Studio programmer programming programming all AVRmicrocontrollers; support of parallel and serial microcontrollers; connection to PC through RS232 Interface for programming and control; 8output, 20-output, 28-output, 40-output sockets for fixing DIP-package of AVR-microcontrollers; serial In-System programming (ISP) of all AVRdevices; 8 push buttons for general use, 8LEDs for general use, additional RS-232 Port; expansion connector for accessing external modules; embedded DataFlash with capacitance 2 Mb for nonvolatile data storage.

So, the STK500 provides an opportunity of thorough study of programming the majority of microcontrollers of AVR family, the significant disadvantage of the given device is insufficient quantity of peripheral units. Nowadays there are special-purpose form of external desks for studying with microcontrollers both self-contained and in the modules-attachments various peripheral units. Similar desks are meant for carrying out laboratory works, individual study of microcontrollers or application as a processor module in a new device. Market price of one of such device is 15 25 thousand rubles, moreover, for additional charge producers often offer reconfiguration of their desks at customer's will. Due to the high price of devices proposed at the market to study microcontrollers at the chair IME TPU the resolution was made to create own desks. To carry it out the group of the candidates for a master's degree was formed. Having analyzed the program of laboratory works and admissible themes of term paper in discipline "microprocessor defined. technology" the main components of the desk being developed were To study the methods of indications dynamic four-charged seven-segmented indicator, matrix display and LCD were used. The keyboard 4x4 will let master algorithms of keyboard service and control the other components. To study ADC channels two potentiometers were used. To study sound modulation the sound modeling piezoelectric element was used'. Changing rotation frequency of fixed cooler, one can understand the operation of PDM. External pulse generator, as interrupts former, will give the possibility to learn the operation of timercounters. There is optocoupler with conversion scheme where the light received by photocell is transformed into pulses of logic level. Together with the cooler the optocoupler allows to define its rotation speed. The study of 12C interface is presented at temperature detector. Together with the cooler and temperature detector, embedded incandescent lamp permits to study the algorithms of automated thermostating.
