Grade 2 Operations
1. Addition is used to find the total number of objects such as total number of animals in a zoo, total number of students in first grade and second grade. 2. Subtraction is used to solve problems such as how many objects are left in a set after taking away, or how much longer one line is than another.
Unit Understanding: Formulate, represent, and use strategies to add and subtract within 100 with flexibility, accuracy, and efficiency efficient algorithms
3. The understanding of the value of a collection of coins helps to determine how many coins are used for a purchase or checking that the amount of change is correct.
