Cross-connect capacity exhaustion and consequent upgrade are delayed by applying the unique 6340 Switch Node feature of subdeployed lines. The number of STM-1 interfaces possible on a cross-connect is tripled by using STM-1 signals with 1/3 payload whilst maintaining full SDH management of each interface. The 6340 Switch Node is a standardised SDH product developed according to the ITU and ETSI recommendations. Features Equipment: ADM, TM, SDXC network elements STM-1, STM-4, STM-16 aggregate interfaces
2 Mbit/s, 34 Mbit/s, 45 Mbit/s, ATM, STM-1, 10/100 BaseT Ethernet, 1000 Base F Gigabit Ethernet, STM-4 tributary interfaces Lower-order and Higher-order connectivity (VC-12, VC-3, VC-4) No single point of failure Flexible architecture providing multiple seamless upgrade paths Integrated ATM cross-connect
Examples of maximum configurations are: ADM16 with 8 x STM-1 and 504 x 2 Mbit/s interfaces SDXC 4/1 with up to 32 STM-1 interfaces Management and operation: Remote software download Network protection Equipment protection Synchronisation management (SSM) Performance monitoring Adaptive pointer filtration on 2 Mbit/s interfaces
