Registration of Modules for Bachelor of Technology Programme Semester II, AY 2010/2011

Students are required to register and bid for ALL their modules from 28 December 2010 to 11 January 2011. The University has introduced the Centralised Online Registration System (CORS) for the bidding of modules. The website for the CORS is at http://www.cors.nus.edu.sg All information and instructions are posted there. Please read carefully before you start bidding for your modules. The schedule for bidding and dropping of modules is as follows: Event Selecting module(s) (round 0) Bidding for module(s) (round 1A to round 3B) Duration 28 December 2010 29 December 2010 - 11 January 2011 Withdrawal from module(s) with W (Withdrawal) indicated 24 January - 27 February 2011 in transcript Withdrawal from module(s) with F (Fail) 28 February 2011 onwards grade indicated in transcript

a) Workload The minimum work-load for one semester is one module whilst the maximum is four modules, including the retake modules. In order to read a module which has pre-requisite module(s), a student is required to have read but not necessarily have passed the pre-requisite module(s), in a previous semester. In order to read a module which has co-requisite module(s), a student must read the co-requisite module(s) in the same semester unless he has read but not necessarily has passed the co-requisite module(s), in a previous semester. All modules available for Semester II, AY 2010/2011 are listed behind for your easy reference. Please take note that some of the modules have pre-requisite and/or co-requisite module(s).

b) Re-taking of Modules Students may opt to Re-take a module only if (i) it is a failed module or (ii) they have been exempted from sitting for the examination in the previous semester, based on medical grounds and (iii) the module is offered in the current semester. Students are advised to re-take all failed modules during the next available semester and try not to delay re-taking essential modules till the final year. c) Elective Module An Elective module may not be offered if there is insufficient number of students opting for that module at any particular time. Students who are affected will be informed later for re-registration of other modules. A student who fails an Elective module in the previous semester(s) may opt not to re-take the module but to register for another module. d) Final Year Project i) Students intending to start their FYP this Sem II AY10/11: If you intend to start your FYP this semester, you would have already been allocated your project and supervisor. Please register for your FYP module via CORS. Please note that all students who bid for their FYP module will be allocated. If you have not been allocated your project and supervisor, you must not register for your FYP module. ii) Students who started their FYP in Sem 1, AY10/11: Please be informed that you do not need to register for your FYP module via CORS. BTech Office will pre-allocate the module for you. iii) Students who started their FYP projects from Sem 2 AY09/10 or earlier: Please register for your FYP module via CORS if you have not completed your FYP. e) Degree Requirements The degree requirements for students who are matriculated from AY2007/2008 onwards have been changed. Details can be found at https://btech.eng.nus.edu.sg/BTech/Programme/ME/MEStructure.aspx f) Declaration This is not applicable to BTech students. You may skip this section in CORS.

There is another type of declaration in terms of modules or S/U (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) declaration which will be applicable to BTech students from AY0708 Intake onwards. For more details, kindly visit https://btech.eng.nus.edu.sg/BTech/Programme/SUDeclaration.aspx and https://btech.eng.nus.edu.sg/BTech/Programme/ModuleDeclaration.aspx g) Tutorial Registration Please ignore the Tutorial Registration in CORS. The tutorial groups for BTech students will be manually assigned by the BTech Office. g) File for Graduation For final year students, if you have accumulated enough Modular Credits to graduate (including those modules that you have successfully bidded), you may file for graduation under the File for Graduation option.

Other information
h) TG3001 or Unrestricted Elective Modules (UEMs) Students who are matriculated in AY2007/2008 are required to register for EITHER TG3001 OR 12 MCs of Unrestricted Elective Modules (UEMs) to fulfill their degree requirements. For those students taking TG3001 Industrial Practice(starting/continuing in Semester II, AY10/11), BTech Office will pre-allocate the module to you. j) TM2401 (applicable to students from Mechanical Engineering only) The module code for TM1402 has now been changed to TM2401 with effect from Sem 2 AY2008/09. The contents of the module remain unchanged. Students who have missed taking TM1402 can still replace it with TM2401. k) GEK1522T and GEK1523T Please note that you are not allowed to declare these 2 modules as a breadth module. l) Outstanding fees You can check your fees and payment status at this link: https://myisis.nus.edu.sg/ Students who do not meet the fee payment deadlines imposed by the Office of Financial Services(http://www.nus.edu.sg/finance/) will incur penalty fees. A late fee will be imposed if fees are not paid or only partially paid by the payment due date. For students whose fees remain in arrears, the University reserves the right to take further action as deemed necessary including barring such students from module registrations in a subsequent semester, canceling such students current module registrations, withholding results slips or transcripts, and withholding the confirmation of the award of the degree. If students are under company-sponsored, please highlight to your company to settle the fees on time as well, as the penalty fees will also apply.
