Precious in His Sight

Once again, our nation comes face-to-face with the dominating moral challenge of our times. This past Tuesday, forty years ago, the Supreme Court majority signed on to the opinion written by Associate Justice, Harry Blackmun. He later wrote a note to himself, It will be an unsettled period for awhile. But the battle rages on in the U.S. Since then, 55,000,000 babies in the womb have been killed. In our church, our ministries, staff, budget, and philosophy reflect our belief that God has a purpose for each life from conception to the cradle to the coffin. Like King David, we declare to our Creator, For You formed my inward parts; you wove me in my mothers womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13, 14). The issue is not mine to decide concerning life, but has been settled from the dawn of time by the Creator God.
Dr. Hayes Wicker Senior Pastor

The psalmist pictures the embryo in the womb as the work of a skilled embroiderer weaving out of sight an overwhelming, intricate pattern of design. The Hebrew might be more literally rendered, for I am fearfully wonderful. We are awed at the mystery and wonder of life, which causes us to give thanks and praise to our Lord. Of course, judges, activists, and the average American do not pause to say, Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well (Psalm 139:14). They do not know, and many do not care. How tragic that this is a political football, a so-called social issue, a view to be adhered to or voted against. The battle continues because Dr. Tribe of the Harvard Law School, who is a strong defender of abortion rights, noted that the abortion question is A clash of absolutes. How true. Over a million abortions are performed yearly in America. Special needs children, such as the unborn diagnosed with Down Syndrome, are especially at risk, with 90% being aborted. The imaging of modern technology has now allowed us to see what David accepted by faith concerning the inward parts as we are skillfully wrought (Psalm 139:15). God also weaves us through recreation by His grace in our growth. Please be praying for Mrs. Betsy Evans, who is in view of a call this weekend as Childrens Ministry Director. She has been fruitful and diligent in the interim position. The vote will be by secret ballot for members only.

In view of a call as our new

She desires to encourage parents to live obedient Christian lives before their children so that their children will be influenced for Christ like she was by her parents. Betsy attended Olivet Nazarene University where she received a BS in Business Administration. She has been the Director of Childrens Ministry in two prior churches, has taught at FBA, and has volunteered in our childrens ministry for 12 years.
