JOURNAL OF THE MALAYSIAN TRANSLATORS ASSOCIATION


The journal of Malaysian Translators Association published twice a year aims to advance knowledge in translation as a discipline as well as an industry. This journal is intended for academicians, researchers, educators and translators who are involved in dissemination of knowledge in translation and its subfields including interpreting, subtitling, and dubbing. It is a print-based refereed journal published twice a year. Authors are invited to submit articles that focus on theoretical analyses, syntheses of research findings, perspectives on translation methodologies and scholarly discussions of issues in translation studies. Then scope of discussion may include themes such as History, Theory and practice, Computerbased Translation, Multi-media, Localisation, Evaluation, Audio-Visual, Sign Language Interpreting, Lexicography and Terminology, as well as translation in Science and Technology, Law, Religion and Literature. Articles may also include debates on various perspectives, policy and translation training that provide insights and understanding in translation as a multi-disciplined area. GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS FOR 2011 ONWARDS


1. All articles submitted must be original and are not under consideration for publication or are published elsewhere. Authors must state if an article is based on a paper that has been presented at a conference and has appeared or will appear in the proceedings of a conference. Articles should not exceed 12,000 words, including abstracts, biodata, references, figures and tables. Books reviews should not exceed 5000 words. Softcopy of the manuscripts should be sent to the Chief Editor (drhasuria@yahoo.com) and c-ced to Persatuan Penterjemah Malaysia, 171-A, Tingkat 1, Jalan Maharajalela, 50150 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia terjemah1@gmail.com. Each submission must be accompanied with a cover letter to the Chief Editor, and must include the title of the article, authors name, position, address and biodata (Occupation/Affiliation, Qualification, and Area of Interest). Articles may be written in Bahasa Melayu or English and must include an abstract and key words. Articles in Bahasa Melayu must also be accompanied with an abstract and key words in English. It is essential for authors to check, correct and ascertain that manuscripts are up to date before final submission. Authors should verify facts, names of people, places and dates and double check all direct quotations and entries in the Works Cited list. Each article may bear the name of not more than 3(three) co-authors. Author, date and name of publication should be provided for all quotations.

REVIEW AND SELECTION OF MANUSCRIPTS


All submission will be subject to peer review unless manifestly outside the aim and scope of the journal or prepared without following the guidelines presented above. The journal aims at a fast peer-review process and will provide authors with comments and decisions in a timely fashion. 1. Books for reviews are accepted on the understanding that a review cannot be guaranteed, and books reviewed and not reviewed are not returnable. Reviewed material cannot be guaranteed to be published and the book reviewed is not returnable.
