Our checking account balance as of December 14th was $2,676.68. Attendance at the January meeting was 16 members and 4 visitors. At our January meeting we raised $26 in donations. Anyone interested in helping with Chesterfield County Confederate History and Heritage Day or Chesterfield County Fair please call me. It will soon be time to submit the application for the Virginia Division Outstanding Camp Award. Please send me any War Between the States-related activities you have participated since this year around February. Such activities would include serving on a Confederate color guard, participating in educational or living history events, participating in memorial services or grave markings, and any other events presenting a positive image of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Several members have reported their activities. Several camp members attended the Robert E. Lee Memorial Service at the Confederate War Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January 19th. The February meeting is our camp auction. If you have anything you would like to donate to auction, please bring it. Also, we would like to place some racks on the inside walls of the camp trailer so that it can carry the 12 flag staffs. If anyone is able to build something like that or knows someone who could, please contact me. Respectfully submitted, Blair Perrow Adjutant/Treasurer 01/21/2013

From The Commander

I want to remind every one of our February annual "Auction Night". This has, historically, been one of the most fun meetings that we have ever had. Besides being a lot of fun, it accounts for about half of the money our little treasury gets each year. We need a big turnout of members, friends, and families there with money in hand and ready to "do battle" in the bidding process. We ask that you bring items to donate for the auction, please search through your houses, garages, basements, and attics for those items that you no longer use or need and are marketable to our members. Such items as books on the War Between the States, relics, militaria, reenactors equipment, fishing equipment, hunting gear, camping gear, edged weapons, pictures, etc. I have never seen anyone turn down a homemade cake or pie. If you know of anyone that might like to speak at a meeting or you would like to speak yourself please let me know. We would like for as many of our own folks to present programs as possible. This allows you to share a corner of history that may be of interest to you and the group as well. This is just a reminder that the 2013 convention will take place the weekend of April 12-14, 2013 in , in Rockbridge County (outside of Lexington, VA). Details, including registration information, are on the Division website . Additionally, this is an election year in which all camp positions will be filled for the next 2 years. Our Camp has some wonderfully talented individuals capable of filling any of the positions. I encourage our membership to step forward and consider being a candidate for service. Jack Marlar, will be attending our March Meeting. For the ones that don't know, Jack Marlar, is a Field Representative for the SCV The camp has a memory candle which is lit at the beginning of each months meeting. This is done in memory/honor of someone's ancestor(s), person of interest/of note, passed member, event, etc... Please take just a few minutes and step forward and light the candle. The following members have stepped forward over the past few months, Sam Watkins, Tommy Clinger, Will Adams, Jimmy Ligon and Bill Brown. If you would like to light the memory candle please let me and I'll make arrangements for one of the upcoming meetings.
Bill Brown Commander, Robert E. Lee Camp #1589 Midlothian,VA.
