** A new type of negative effects of chemical pollutants on aquatic (marine) organisms was discovered in this paper. It was found in the experiments described in the paper that the chemicals pollutants (synthetic surfactants, or surface-active substances) slowed down water filtration by marine mollusks who got their food and oxygen as a result of water filtration.
