Good indoor air quality (IAQ) is a key aspect of sust ainable design. The Green Mark for Buildings Scheme by BCA includes I ndoor Environment Quality embracing IAQ as one of t he key criteria in t he assessment score t o encourage healt hier and less pollut ing pract ices in t he built env ironment. This coursew ill enhance your underst anding of t he fundament als of IAQ. You w ill be able t o ident ify t he tw o major indoor contaminants - chemical and microbiological cont aminants. Describe t heir sources and healt h hazards and t ake appropriat e remediation measures. Conduct IAQ inv est igat ion and t ake measurements of common indoor cont aminant s. You w ill gain pract ical insights on specific IAQ problems and solutions from real case st udy examples.

Certified Green Mark Professional (GMP) Programme


The Cert ified Green Mark Professional Programme, is a t raining and recognit ion scheme, introduced by BCA t o raise industry capability in t he niche area of Sust ainable Design and Development . Designed as a v olunt ary career upgrading for building professionals, t he scheme recognises indiv iduals w it h t he relevant compet encies in green building design and pract ices. Candidat es seeking accredit at ion as Certified Green Mark Professionals w it h BCA, besides meeting ot her pre-requisit es, (please see eligibility for GMP Cert ificat ion below ),w ould needt o complet e t he Cert ification Course for GMP. The GMP course, is offered as a series of short modules, focused on design concept s, pract ical green solut ions & t echnologies, and t he use of building simulat ion t ools to predict building performance. The scheme envisions a GMP as: A competent professional w ho possesses t he kno ledge and skills capable of carry ing out det ailed design, prediction and w enhancement of building performance for Green Mark certification and implement ation.

Eligibility for GMP Certification


Candidat es must possess an engineering or a building relat ed degree w it h at least 5 years of relevant ex perience, and successfully complet e t he GMP course w it hin 3 years w hich comprises of 6 compulsory modules and any 3 from t he elect ive list . Moreover, candidat es need to demonst rate competency in Green Design by inv olving in one Green Mark Project t hat certified t o Goldplus rat ing.
