NK-200
Monitoring the cylinder pressure allows evaluating: Ignition properties of the fuel, Injection timing of the fuel and Condition of the engine parts influencing the combustion properties (fuel nozzles, piston rings, etc.)
Why?
NK-200 MIP contributes to:
Reduced fuel consumption Reduced maintenance costs and improved planning of maintenance Reduced risk for engine damage Cylinder load balance inspection Optimisation of engine-running conditions Documentation of engine condition to class societies and insurance companies
EXAMPLE:
A one degree to advanced fuel injection timing may increase the fuel consumption up to 2%. A 10 000 kW engine running at 90% load uses approximately 1.5 tons of fuel per hour. This additional fuel consumption alone accounts for more than USD 35 000 per year.

FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR GT-33 TO BE MOVED FROM CYLINDER TO CYLINDER GT-25 GT-33
Main components are: Cylinder Pressure Sensor Scavenging Air Pressure Sensor Fuel Pressure Sensor on slow-speed engines only RPM Pickup Engine Signal Processing Unit BASELINE Software BASELINE Software NK-200 is equipped with BASELINE software as standard reducing the search time for fault indications of cylinder curves. The operator is able to detect potential engine damages or indications of wrong adjustments on the engine at a glance. BASELINE is a collection of 9 data comparison curves which together give a very clear indication of the current condition of every cylinder of the engine. Measured data and model curve data are all corrected to ISO environmental temperature of 25C minimizing discrepancies between temperature at model curve and actual data. The NK-200 MIP system is delivered with a separate scavenging air pressure sensor as a standard to ensure that all cylinder pressure measurements are performed during stable engine load conditions. A unique feature of the system is that the scavenging air pressure is measured simultaneously and presented together with each cylinder measurement.
The 5th generation of MIP calculators, NK-200, was launched in 2001 replacing the NK-100 which had been in service since 1994. Kongsberg Maritime has over the years been an important contributor to modern condition monitoring of diesel engines.
