Torn Lace
(Bernardo de Meneses Side of the Story)
8:16 am
Arggghh I woke up too early. But I might as well get up now, I have a long day ahead of me. I mean, one doesnt get married every day today after all; or as other men on the planet would say, tied up with a ball and chain. Now thats a sobering thought. Oh well, at least I chose my bride well: Micaelita Aranguiz. She comes from a well-known family, young and quite attractive but most of all, gullible. I mean, she actually thinks Im courteous, deferential and soft as a glove. I couldnt help but snicker. If the guys actually heard her saying that about me, I just know theyd fall off their chairs with their loud guffaws. What she doesnt know is that beneath the carefully laden faade of a refined gentleman is a fierce and sour disposition. I even noticed shes tried to test my behavior in many ways to find out if what she sees is what she gets, to no avail of course; Im just too good at hiding my true personality. I guess this just goes to show that I have superb acting skills. I believe I deserve an Oscar.

How long do these preparations last? I mean, I thought all it needed was an I do from Micaelita and me and voila! were married! Sheesh, whats taking the wedding coordinators so long in organizing everything? Didnt we pay them a fortune for them to do their work? I knew I shouldve hired that other company rather than what Micaelita recommended. If the preparations are still not done a couple of hours from now Im docking their pay. This just goes to shows that I should be the one making all the decisions in our relationship from now on.

9:48 pm
Whats taking Micaelita so long? Its not like shes putting on such an elaborate costume, its just a white gown and veil for Petes sake! Ive been waiting outside her room for an hour now. I want to see what my bride looks like all dressed up. Ah, there she is. I see that the Alenon lace I gave her is adorning her gown. The expensive lace has been in the family for generations, it has been carefully preserved and worthy of a museum, she better take good care of it knowing its worth. But hearing the distinctive sound of a rip and seeing it dangling limply when the lace got caught on the wrought iron of the door made me see red. How could she be so reckless! Didnt I just remind her how much it was worth? Why, the daft womans just standing there looking idiotically shocked, isnt she even going to pick it up? Does she need me to snap her out of it? Addlebrained, dim-witted, clumsy simpleton--Ahhh, but here come the guests, Ill just chew her out when the weddings over.

10:22 pm
No? No?! What do you mean, NO? The sound of her refusal is resonating across the whole room! How dare she!? Who does she think she is? Not only did she foolishly ruin the valuable Alenon lace over her clumsiness, shes also embarrassing me in front of all these guests! No?! NO?! How dare this woman? Goodness gracious, Micaelita, this is awfully humiliating! Why, the nerve of this woman! No?! NO?! Unbelievable!
