Considerable savings in man power and costs with PERI systems

Wadi Adai Al Amerat Road, Muscat, Oman
The construction of the 7.50km long, new road involves major concrete works, amongst others a 12m to 14m high retaining wall. High loads during concreting made necessary a stiff formwork construction. The solution included the proven TRIO panel wall formwork and the VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork. For the 42 m high bridge piers, PERI engineers designed a climbing solution with the CB climbing system. Basically, the climbing scaffold platform consists of two brackets with scaffold tube bracing, planking positioned on girders and handrails. VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork is positioned on the CB climbing system. With the formwork and climbing solution, a very economical execution of the concrete works as well as a high-quality finish of the concrete surfaces are achieved.

Vijay Rattan Mehta, Project Manager: I am extremely satisfied while using various products from PERI for all the important structures in our project. There has been considerable savings in man power and costs and faster repetitions have saved time. PERI materials are user-friendly and result in a very high quality finish.

Flexible systems for different tasks result in short construction cylces and highest possible safety
The Regent Emirates Pearl Hotel, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Contractor Arabian Construction Co. (ACC), Abu Dhabi Field Service PERI Abu Dhabi, UAE

Mohamed J. Hasson, Construction Manager: We have used PERI systems due to several reasons. First of all, we can realize short cycle times and reduce the number of tower cranes. With PERI systems, we can give safe environment to all of our workers which is the top priority for our company. Important for us was also the engineering solution for the complicated, elliptical shape of the core wall and the 1.00 m wall thickness which required special attention for designing the formwork and the ACS system.
Crane-independent forming, striking and climbing accelerates work procedures on the construction site and makes them independent from each other.

The Regent Emirates Pearl Hotel will stand 240 m high upon completion, it is set to open its doors in 2012. The Hotel will comprise four podium levels and 45 floors. The ACS self-climbing system in combination with VARIO girder wall formwork is in use for the oval-shaped core of the building. The climbing system offers highest possible safety for the site personnel and allows for fast concreting cycles. The ACS brackets climb smoothly and evenly on climbing rails using hydraulic pumps. The slabs are formed with MULTIFLEX girder slab formwork, which is extremely flexible and versatile.

PD 8 shoring towers serve as slab tables for higher clearances. Due to the low number of secondary girders, PD 8 system saves time for erection and dismantling. The safety of the site personnel using PERI systems further accelerates the construction progress. In addition to the economical technical solution, PERI offers comprehensive engineering services for the project which include design calculation, planning, supervision and training for site personnel. PERI also meets the requirement of delivery of large material quantities within the specified time limit.

Reda al Bakry, Project Manager: I am totally satisfied with PERI formwork. PERI shall be my first choice for all my future projects.

Contractor Arabian Construction Co. (ACC), Abu Dhabi Field Service PERI Abu Dhabi, UAE

The lifting fork can be optimally adjusted to suit each respective slab table. It is immediately operational due to the integrated crane sling.

The Gate District Towers is located on Reem Island, at the entrance of Shams Abu Dhabi, and is an eight-tower, mixed-use development. It includes the 74-storey Sky Tower and the 65-storey Sun Tower. The development will boast 1.17million ft of office space, alongside over 1.08million ft of exceptional retail, hotel and amenity space.

VARIO girder wall formwork is in use for the walls of the building. The system is extremely flexible, the continuously adjustable element connections allow to use the system for all designs and applications. Flexibility is also one of the advantages of the applied VARIO GT24 column formwork: With the system, square or rectangular cross-sections up

to 80 cm x 120 cm can be concreted. The floor slabs are constructed using MULTIFLEX on props or PD8 slab tables dependant on the height and PERI slab table form. The well-thoughtout solution allowed for reducing formwork investment for ACC.

A customized climbing solution for a specially shaped building with two inclined cores
Central Bank of Kuwait Headquarters, Kuwait

During the construction of the building, the two smaller stair cores incline more and more towards the main core (right). This demands a speciallydesigned climbing solution.

VARIO GT 24 wall formwork has been designed for a fresh concrete pressure of 90 kN/m because of the use of a highly flowable concrete.

For the construction of the tower, PERI supplied an individually designed formwork solution. The biggest challenge was the inclination of the two stair cores towards the main core. For the construction of the cores, a combination of two ACS variants with VARIO GT24 girder wall formwork has been used. For the spandrel beams connecting the two

staircases with the main core, CB climbing platforms have been combined with VARIO wall formwork. The complexity in the project is the result of the continuous changes in the length of the spandrel beams after each concrete pouring and therefore the continuous changes in the construction joint with the main core.

Mohammed Abdel Atti, Construction Manager: The PERI solution helped us to climb the three cores very economically and fast. For every requirement, they offered the right system and a comprehensive technical solution.
Contractor M.A. Kharafi & Sons Field Service PERI Kuwait and PERI Weissenhorn, Germany The new Central Bank of Kuwait consists of an office tower with around 75,000 m and a multi-storey car park building with around 65,000 m.

This huge educational facility in Jahra Area in the west of Kuwait City sprawls over around 20,000 m. It consists of five floors, each with more than 500 columns with different shapes and sizes. The VARIO column formwork provided the right solution for such variety and large column sections. 40 sets of column formwork have been purchased that covered all the different shapes. A specific plan helped the site team to reduce the reassembly cycles. For single sided retaining walls, double sided internal walls and core walls 600m VARIO girder wall formwork and SB brace frames were purchased. 8

Each tower has a typical floor area of around 600m. The huge main cores of both towers are been climbed ahead of the slab, which required around 110CB climbing platforms and BR shaft platforms and more than 3.000m of VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork for the core walls. The contractor First United had already a big stock of VARIO wall formwork and climbing formwork from six towers in the project KBT, so the challenge was to use this stock and minimize the additional materials as much as possible. The PERI engineers met these requirements by an adapted and detailed planning of the formwork solution.

Innovative PERI solution helps concreting complicated shape

P T. & T. Complex at South Sabahiyah, Kuwait .
For this communications facility near the main port of Ahmadi, PERIs job was to work out a solution for the 83 m height telecom tower in the centre of the project. The challenge was the conical shape of the small tower with its diameter decreasing from 5.40 m to 1.80m, and the necessary design of a climbing solution at the outside as well as at the inside of the walls. RUNDFLEX was the solution for the conical walls with trapezoidal shaped steel fillers in between the RUNDFLEX panels. Due to the continuously decreasing dimensions, each pour needed differently dimensioned fillers and an individual planning and design. For the internal platform, a complicated circular BR platform with five boxes and sliding beams was tailor made to fit the internal diameter at the start of each pour. The platform is lifted after each pour using the gravity pivot plates by sliding on the internal walls of the tower. For the external climbing platforms, special CB 240 platforms were designed and fabricated with angles between CB brackets and climbing cones that change each pour to decrease the number of reassembly needed for the platforms. In this way, only three reassembly times have been required.
Contractor Canar Trading & Contracting Co. Field Service PERI Kuwait and PERI Weissenhorn, Germany

Essam Younes Saad, General Foreman: PERI provided us with the solution for our complicated telecom tower. The RUNDFLEX system is the perfect solution for the conical walls of the tower, and the internal sliding platform is very fast and extremely easy to use and lift from one pour to another.

SKYDECK The light-weight formwork solution Systematic assembly and high degree of safety
Golden Sand Hotel, Doha, Qatar
With a construction schedule of only ten month, the contractor was looking for a formwork solution to construct the 20 storey building in such a short time. With one crane available on site a saving on the crane operation was highly required. Therefore the floors slabs were formed with SKYDECK. Light-weight aluminium panels ensured fast and fatigue free erection and stripping for the site personnel, providing a 1m cantilevered platform for post tensioning work, and reduced crane usage. For the core walls and columns VARIO wall and VARIO column formwork were used and supported on internal BR platform inside the shafts.
The SKYDECK system allows a grid with PROP Spacing of 1.50 m x 2.25 m creating a great advantage for circulation under the formed slab.

Mohamed Yehia, Construction Manager: We are extremely satisfied with the PERI lightweight SKYDECK system which provided us minimum use of the crane. In addition, the services provided by PERI with prompt site supervision and inspection, and engineering service for changes that occurred during the construction process, helped our site progress and was necessary.

Cost-effective and fast climbing cycle with ACS and RCS systems
Al Sadd Development, Doha, Qatar
The main critical structure of the Al Sadd Development is the core wall design following certain criteria that should be implemented with the formwork. The core is required to climb ahead of the slab with a fast formwork cycle. One challenge was the limited crane availability that could not be dedicated to the core wall. The core slab should be poured together with walls and the wall thickness changes with a step of 5cm half way in the structure. Furthermore, there is a lack of space on the site. A hydraulic climbing system was clearly the choice to allow climbing independently

Contractor MIDMAC Contracting Company wll Field Service PERI Doha, Qatar

Jack Ghantous, Project Manager: PERI climbing technology was the right system, as it provided the speed, the safety, and the performance we had expected. PERI prompt engineering and after sales services supported efficiently and professionally our project in a timely manner.

from the crane, and to be ahead of the slab structure achieving cycles of four days. The ACS gallows system integrated with the hydraulic climbing allowed pouring the core slab together with the core walls. With the RCS hydraulic rail climbing system gave the flexibility to adapt to the 5cm step occurring half way throughout the building. The climbing system was combined with VARIO wall formwork and the complete system was used to build the first two towers. Once the core was completed the system was dismantled and erected on the other two towers and the cycle was repeated again.

Contractor Debleh Construction Company Projektbetreuung | Field Service PERI Tehran, Iran

Abbas Moslem, Project Manager and Abdolreza Faridnaeini, Site Manager: The benefits of PERI formworks can be described on two sections: First to mention that the Technical Office supported us completely during all construction processes. Principally the quick and exact delivering of formworks to our job site, after selling support and PERI customer-friendly treatments are appreciable. Secondly, we can work very quickly with TRIO because it has few different components and it was easy that even unskilled personnel can use it without any problems so it cause high efficiency in our work. Despite of using the formworks several times during last year, still all components are usable and in good condition and we need only to change the plywood to make it as a new one.

TRIO TRG 80 concreting scaffold brackets could be mounted to both the horizontal as well as vertical struts. The brackets are immediately secured after mounting.

The climbing formwork is formed by connecting the formwork and the CB Climbing Scaffold by means of strongbacks which is moved as a complete unit by crane.

Due to existence of several manufactories in Kashan, it stands on 20th ranking grade of population. Regarding to the requirement of Kashan people to provide them housing according to the high population, it was necessary to consider of more housing projects in the city. The currently under construction residential complex includes 816 units in 34 blocks at six floors. The 2.70 m high walls of the houses are formed with TRIO wall formwork. TRIO panel formwork is a universal and versatile formwork system. With its 2.70m and 3.30m system heights, as well as a sensible range of widths, it can be used on small and large construction sites.

Slabs have been constructed with precast slabs. High load-bearing MULTIPROP props have been combined with MRK frames and used as shoring towers for the slab panels. The shoring towers have several advantages like a high degree of adaptability and flexibility dueto numerous frame sizes for optimal load transfer. Furthermore, the assembly of the system is fast and safe due to patented, captive wedge connection on the outer and inner tubes. Due to the advantages of PERI formwork and shoring systems, the team at the site reached to build one unit in one day. The project managers stated, that utilizing PERI formworks was the best solution for their needs.

TRIO requires only six different panel widths. With clearly arranged and practical increments in panel size of 30 cm along with one 72 cm wide panel, on-site material requirements are reduced whilst utilisation rates increase.

Bridge pier construction with the use of VARIO variable wall formwork and ST 100 shoring system
Sattari- Abshenasan Intersection Bridge, Tehran, Iran

VARIO GT 24 with its continuously adjustable element connections is used for the complex design of the curved piers. Easy to assemble ST100 stacking towers are used as shoring.

The different structural components are characterised by a complex geometry.

The use of tailormade formwork allows for realising best dimension accuracy.

The new bridge will cause traffic improvement of North West highways considerably and also in the future will dispense the whole traffic of Tehran-North free highway. Because of importance of this project, local municipality emphasis is speedup of the project so to reach to the project construction time schedule, job site is working at three shifts. The bridge is designed of two high speed lanes, two collecting and dispending lanes, one West East unleveled U-turn, two exit ramps and four right exits that lets to do all twelve driving moves and connects Sattari highway to University roundabout. The project is established of 14 curved piers in pairs with the total height of 7 m to 8 m that are constructed into two shapes: attached and detached (includes beam) piers. The curved piers with beam are constructed in three

stages. At first, the straight bottom of piers are concreted by the use of VARIO wall formwork with the height of 4.20m. Subsequently, the top curved pier sections are shuttered with VARIO in the combination with wooden stiffeners with the height of 4.20m. Finally, after finishing the concrete pouring of two bottom and top stages, the beam is constructed using ST100 as shoring system and VARIO as beam formwork. The attached piers are constructed in two bottom and top stages and also shuttered with VARIO. VARIO formworks includes of GT24 main stringers, steel walers, wooden stiffeners and plywood as formlining that causes easy working with formworks and high working performance. By using PERI formworks, the engineers success to finish one pier in three days.

Contractor Spilat Construction Co. Field Service PERI Tehran, Iran

Eng. Arthur Megerdigi, Site Manager: There are a lot of positive things to say about PERI, beside the excellent technology and engineering without any idea what it would be for the first time using PERI formwork on bridge in Iran. It`s fantastic just how easy the system could be adjusted to even this difficult geometry. The project would not have been as successfully completed as it was.

Parcel 2.07
Saudi Bin Ladin Group is the contractor for Parcel 2.07. For the formwork solution, the PERI designers took into consideration to simplify the work for the contractor with less connection parts. Therefore they proposed the use of TRIO 330 in combination with SB brace frames for the single-sided wall shuttering. For the columns solution, the contractor requested a lightweight and easy to handle solution. Therefore LICO column formwork is used. Columns with bigger sizes (over 600 mm x 1,300 mm) are formed with VARIO 14 GT 24 column formwork. Around 27.000 m of MULTIFLEX slab formwork have been used on this project which was split into four parcels. The contractor chose MULTIFLEX because of the limited number of cranes and because it was very easy to adapt the girder slab formwork to any slab geometry. ACS automatic climbing system is used for the main core wall. The core consists of several shafts which were needing crane usage. That was the reason to decide to use PERI ACS automatic climbing system.

King Abdullah Financial District in North Riyadh is one of the most prestigious high-rise developments. One of the office towers has a total height of 240 m with two huge irregular rhomboid shaped core walls. PERI was the choice to overcome the complicated design of building and to maintain safe, short cycle pours by using the VARIO GT24 girder wall formwork. VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork is variable for all designs and applications. The rows of slots in the

steel walers and couplings allow continuous tightening of panel joints. In addition, the VARIO GT 24 coupling aligns the panels and adjusts possible deviations during assembly. For the two cores, ACS and RCS will be used. The systems are self-climbing. The hydraulic system provides safe, easy adjustable formwork to maintain the internal and external dimensions of the shafts. SKYDECK formwork for suspended slabs is very easy to handle for installation or striking of slabs with

a wide range of flexibility for different types and heights. SKYDECK furthermore provides the possibility of early striking for slabs which reduces the required materials and further enhances the construction process.
