How would one define an animal in the first place?

If the term is examined scientifically, it basically refers to an organism that is multicellular, has a diploid number of cells, undergo sexual reproduction and many other distinguish characteristics. Of course, we humans satisfy many of those traits. To put it simply, human is a species of animal too. So what gives us the rights to be more superior to the other animals? Animal rights have been debated, with an increasing number of organisations having pledged to protect them over the years. Indeed, it is an important value which has to be emphasized, as animals are not for us to abuse, and neither here to suffer. What are animal rights regarded as? Animals cannot be given rights similar to that of humans such as freedom of speech or vote. What they need is the right to live under equality, the right to be protected and cared for. Animals are not property, they are lives. They are just as intelligent and humans and together we have cooperated effectively. Canines have been deployed to sniff out drug dealers, used in rescue missions, and even to guide those of visual disabilities. Horses have been used in wars, transports and have worked with human for decades. This shows how animals do deserve to be honoured and certainly should receive our respect. Since animals have always been so devoted to us, it gives us no reason to exploit them. Given their importance, capabilities and achievements, animals do have their own rights and should be treated fairly at all times Since humans have recognized the importance of animal traits, why is animal abusing still so common? In fact the superiority of human beings over other animal species has been set in decades, and even centuries ago. Great philosophers in the past have made expressions which set barriers or hierarchy between human and animals. That is, the fact that human is the only capable species that can use reasons to guide his conduct, whereas other animals are unable to do so. This determines the difference between animals and humans and since then, animals have been viewed to serve the humans. This has formed to be a conventional mindset and is practiced even in society today. Indeed, we cannot deny how human are more autonomous or gifted than animals to a certain extent, but is abusing animals a form of selfconscious? We group ourselves as those with ability to guide our conducts or moral, but is this reflected? Apparently we are now violating our initial status and this enlightens us to the importance of animal rights again. We are not showing how we can be ethical or righteous by dealing with the animals though inhuman acts. How we are now separable from what animals were viewed initially? Animals have emotions just like we do. Have an animal no eyes? Have an animal no organs, affection, and passion? They have done nothing wrong to provoke us humans and they deserve our respect absolutely. They do feel the pain when they hurt. Every living thing would struggle under the

knives and blades including humans. Since animals go through fear and have feelings like us, we have to be considerate to them too. This can come in many forms, such as stopping physical abusing of animals, using of painkillers during slaughtering processes. It is inherent that animal is our food sources but ensuring that their pain is reduced is actually a form of respect towards the animals. The most effective way of exercising animal rights however, is still to refrain from harming animals without a good purpose. This is important since animals do not deserved to be brutally treated at all times especially when they are not at wrong. It is unavoidable that animals have to be breed for food or other necessary uses for the benefits of human. This is the natural process of a food chain. However, this does not grant us the rights to abuse or slaughter the animals according to our own will. Animals should not be treated as properties and should be free from our abuses. They have senses and feelings like any human being. They should not be treated with prejudice and instead with moral equality. Animals do have their rights.
