O Holy Apostle Philip, Intercede with the merciful God That he may grant our souls forgiveness of sins.

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory for ever! + Slava Isusu Christu! Slava i vo viki!

From the Fathers of the Church

St. John Chrysostom He commended them for doing what was right. He reveals how great is his bond of love for them and has been from the beginning. Then the king will say to those at his right hand, Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. To what other blessedness could this blessedness be compared? To be blessed of the Father! Why were they counted worthy of such a great honor? I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink. What honor! What blessedness! He did not say take but inherit as ones own, as your Fathers, as yours, as due to you from the first. For before you were, he says, these things had been prepared and made ready for you, because I knew you would be such as you are.

Year of Faith
BY DEATH HE TRAMPLED DEATH In the preparation rite (Prothesis or Proskomedia) of the Divine Liturgy the priest says: You have redeemed us from the curse of the law with Your precious blood; nailed to the cross and pierced with the lance, You have become a fountain of immortality for us; glory to You, our Savior. These words remind us that Christ is our redeemer who has ransomed us from the captivity of sin and hell. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. / Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows / like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth. Prophecy of Isaiah 53. He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Is. 53:12. By His humility, Christ has overcome the pride of Satan and the sins of man. Fr. Anthony Hernandez, Eparchy of Phoenix, Office of Religious Education.
