MESSAGE FROM MRS. KENNAUGH

Our school continued its anti-bullying efforts and message by having a Michigan State Police officer visit Beagle this afternoon (Friday, February 1st) to deliver the Michigan State Police Anti-Bullying presentation. There were two assemblies: 1st through 3rd grade and 4th through 6th grade. We very much appreciate the age-appropriate message. Please ask your child(ren) about the assembly. As you are well aware, we have been focusing on behavior that ROCKS this year. We are teaching and looking for choices that show Respect, Ownership, Cooperation, Kindness, and Safety. There are many benefits to all of these traits; Dr. David Hamilton lays out the benefits of kindness in his book, Why Kindness is Good for You. In it, Dr. Hamilton explains that demonstrating and receiving kindness has some specific benefits: 1) Kindness Makes Us Happier 2) Kindness Gives Us Healthier Hearts (lowers blood pressure) 3) Kindness Slows Aging 4) Kindness Makes for Better Relationships 5) Kindness is Contagious So, please work with us to model and demonstrate kindness for your children and recognize kindness in your children when they demonstrate it. We are still experiencing technical difficulties with our front door buzzer system. Thank you for your patience as we work out the glitches so that we can begin locking our front door throughout the day, with visitors having to ring the buzzer to be let into the building.
