1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

DEVELOPMENT OF SURFACES Submission Date: 06/02/2013 A cylinder of height 60 mm and base 50 mm is resting on its base. A cutting plane perpendicular to VP at 30 0 to HP and bisecting the axis cuts the solid. Draw the development of the surface of the bottom portion. Draw the development of the 900 rectangular elbow (refer page 16.11 in the text book P.I. Varghese). Show all construction lines. Draw the lateral surface of the Y piece formed by three cylindrical pipes of 60 mm (refer page 16.13, fig16.29) Draw the development of lateral surfaces of a hexagonal pyramid of base of side 25 mm and altitude 60 mm which is resting vertically on its base on the ground with two of the sides of the base perpendicular to VP. Draw the development of the lateral surface of a tetrahedron of base 50 mm. A cone of diameter 100 mm and height 130 mm rests with its base on HP. It is cut by a section plane inclined at 300 to HP and perpendicular to VP. Draw the development of the truncated cone if the section plane bisects the axis of the cone

7. A funnel tapers from a circular opening of 70 mm diameter to a circular opening of 20mm diameter over an axial length of 50 mm and extends further a 40mm. there is a cylindrical portion of height 15 mm above the tapering portion. Develop the funnel. 8. A cylinder of height 70 mm and base circle 60 mm diameter is resting on base on HP. A circular hole of diameter 50 mm is drilled through the cylinder in such a way that axis of the hole is perpendicular to VP and bisects the axis of the cylinder. Develop the lateral surface of the cylinder. 9. A sugar jar is in the form of a right circular cone base diameter 60 mm and height 90 mm and rest on base on HP. An ant starts moving from extreme left end of its base return to the starting point after moving around it. Find geometrically the length of the shortest path the ant can take. Show this path in both front and top views
