<Spring Break (No School) >
January fIew right by, as we were busy expIoring the changing eIe-
ments of winter. Our sugar cube ice castIes turned out great - the
kids did an amazing job on them! Because of the frigid tempera-
tures, we didn't get much of an opportunity to go outside this
month; hopefuIIy this wiII change in February. PIease make sure
you are sending ski pants with your chiId, as we wiII begin to go
outside when the weather warms up.

The schooI wiII be hosting a Book Fair this month. If you wouId Iike
to purchase anything for your chiId you can take them through be-
fore or after schooI. We wiII not be going as a cIass, but you are
more than weIcome to go on your own with your chiId.

The Theme of the Month: Kindness/Diversity
This month we wiII be ceIebrating VaIentine's Day, and focusing on
kindness. We wiII be spending a Iot of time on the GoIden RuIe:
treat others the way you wouId Iike to be treated.
I encourage you to discuss this virtue with your chiId at home. We
wiII aIso be embracing cuIturaI diversity as we expIore the First Na-
tions cuIture.

As a cIass we wiII be designing a speciaI T-Shirt that represents what kindness
means to us. On February the 14th, VaIentine's Day, pIease send your chiId to
schooI with their T-Shirt on; they wiII receive it the day before. I wiII be coIIecting
$2.00, which wiII go towards the making of the shirts.

Last month the Pre-K's had a great time bowIing. Some of them even took the Iead go-
ing up against the aduIts! It was nice to see so many faces out, even though it was one
of the coIdest days of the year.

Due to the Winter Break we wiII not be having a Pre-K FamiIy Day this month. Stay
tuned for more detaiIs regarding our March event.

ChiIdren Iove to ceIebrate VaIentine's Day, and handing out speciaI cards has become
a tradition. In cIass, we wiII be making VaIentine's Day bags, where the Pre-K's wiII be
abIe to store any cards they may receive.

If you wouId Iike to send VaIentine's Day cards to schooI with your chiId I ask that you
send one for each student, rather than specific chiIdren. If you are not pIanning to
send any, that is compIeteIy fine. I aIso ask that you do not address them to anyone
specific, as this aIIows the chiIdren to independentIy disperse them into the bags.
You are weIcome to sign your chiId's name however, so they know who the card is
from!
