EC3031A, EC1021A, EC3031W, EC1020A, EC5301A (This list only represents the products with the highest sales volume that contain this specific material) Approximately 25% of the material is sold in 55-gallon drums and 75% is sold in 265-gallon totes.
Product Uses
The primary use of this chemistry is as a corrosion filmer. A filmer forms a protective layer on metal equipment that repels corrosive attack by acids. This material is also used in various chemical processes as an antifoulant. An antifoulant is a chemical additive, typically added in extremely low dosages, that prevents the deposition of foulant material in chemical process streams. Foulant is undesirable because when it lays down on heat transfer surfaces, it acts as an insulator, which requires more heat to be put into the system and thus increasing costs. Foulant can also cause significant damage when it lays down in certain process locations. Chemical producers want to limit the amount of foulant that deposits during a run length. When chemical producers have to stop production because of the need to clean deposited foulant, it costs them significant amounts of money due to lost production.

Under normal conditions of anticipated use and when used with appropriate handling procedures and PPE, the overall potential risk of this material to human health and the environment is low. As with all products, care must be taken to prevent its release to the environment. In the event of a chemical release or spill Nalco has procedures in place that will reduce the potential human and/or environmental exposure through containment and remediation efforts.
