REVISION 00 NOVEMBER 2005

INTRODUCTION This schedule is applicable only to A340-300 aircraft with CFMI CFM56-5C4 engines. It is based on the assumption that the everyday operation of the aircraft serves as a continuous check on the functioning of all normal services. On these test flights however, the crew is expected to monitor the behaviour of all equipment and report any unserviceable items. In addition to completing all the required tests in this schedule, any characteristic which is considered unsafe or undesireable must be recorded. The minimum flight crew for this test shall include a Technical Flight Test Engineer to coordinate the test programme and record the result of each test. The test should be carried out in the sequence as written. Altitude and conditions must be observed. This FTS is based on extracts of the Airbus Customer Acceptance Manual. The data contained in this schedule is correct at the time of writing, but might not be in agreement with subsequent Flight Manual amendements. In cases of conflict, the current Flight Manual supersedes, and both the Vice President Flight Operations Technical & Projects and the Vice President Engineering Quality Assurance must be notified of such conflicts. The crew of the aircraft must be familiar with the contents of this schedule before the flight. The crew conducting the test must have undergone the approved training and checked out as laid in the Emirates Flight Operations Manual and must be specifically approved by the Vice President Flight Operations Technical & Projects for airworthiness test flights on A340-300 aircraft. Except where otherwise indicated, the flight techniques are those associated with normal operations of the aircraft. Fuel symetry must be maintained. Each test procedure is contained within a titled table of three columns and numerous rows. Control activations are listed in the left or Action column; expected results, messages and lights are listed in the right or Response column. The third column is reserved for the check boxes. Action items are preceded with a !. For example: ! CLR ECAM to MEMO DOOR ! CAPT EFIS DMC: 3 The EFIS SWTG MEMO message appears The PFD 1 and the ND 1 displays remain valid Annotate the check boxes " as follows:

LOADING AND CALCULATION OF WEIGHT Generally the flight test shall be conducted with 30 tonnes of fuel on board. The fuel distribution should be as per automatic refuelling distribution chart given in FCOM 2.01.30. The actual values shall be recorded. Where specific tests require the aircraft weight to be recorded, it shall be calculated from the fuel figures indicated in the ECAM. POST FLIGHT ACTION Note: A debriefing session between the flight test crew and a line maintenance engineer will take place. QA will be contactable, if required.

Complete a statement of defects, sign the Flight Test Certificate, and state clearly whether or not the aircraft needs to be reflown. The completed flight test report will be forwarded to the Vice President Engineering Quality Assurance for review before being placed in Technical Records.

APPENDIX 3 CREW BRIEFING FOR TEST FLIGHT

Actual flight test times on the day are subject to change. Liaise through the Technical Flight Test Engineer (TFTE) for the aircraft status and for the stand on which the aircraft is parked. The TFTE will maintain contact with Engineering.

Flight Planning and Dispatch

The flight test is listed in the daily EK movement schedule, but prior to flight contact dispatch to confirm latest known time for departure and confirm ramp fuel figure and estimated burn. If possible, determine the aircrafts schedule after the test is complete and, where shorter supplemental tests are required, check that defuelling will not be required to preserve payload on the next commercial flight. Adjust the fuel figure as necessary to meet the flight test requirements. Predetermined test flight routes are filed with ATC, however ATC are supportive of other specific requests. The easiest way to fly the schedule is on radar vectors that extend as far as possible, followed usually by a turn in the opposite direction. The optimum area, subject to weather, is in the airspace bound by DXB/AUH/DOH as traffic is lighter than in the airspace slightly further north. The briefing package with flight plan, weather and Notams should be available at the normal crew dispatch location. Ensure that a correct GD is available. If possible, contact ATC directly prior to departure to advise of the intended profile.

General Flight Test Optimisation

Safety of the flight remains paramount. However, it is also important that the flight test is conducted as efficiently as possible to ensure flight time is kept to the minimum necessary. Some of the checks are sequenced in the schedule on an optimum basis but do not necessarily have to be tested in the schedule's specific order. Whenever low workload periods occur as a result of operational constraints, the crew should consider performing available items out of sequence. At all times during flight, the flight crew needs to maintain a good situational awareness particularly in relation to the aircrafts position from DXB. As a guideline, when commencing descent from FL 200 to FL 175, if the aircraft is approximately 70 NM from and proceeding to DUB (hard tune on RAD NAV), the remaining sequence will position the aircraft optimally for the approach phase, allowing a period for approach preparation.

Flight Test
Liaise with Engineering to ensure that all required engineering actions required prior to the flight test have been carried out. Ensure that the cabin and galleys are secure, including the small trays in the coffee machines that, if unsecured, will detach with much noise during the take-off roll. Ensure the TFTE, and anyone else onboard, is ready prior to application of takeoff power. Anticipate aircraft response for a TOGA takeoff at light weights. Prior to commencing the approach phase, liaise with EK Ops and Engineering as well as DNATA for a parking stand. On landing, use full or idle reverse as appropriate. At the end of the detail, conduct a thorough briefing with the Line Engineer and ensure that the Tech Log entries are accurate and complete. In the event of any technical failure that may impact the C of A, EK Quality Assurance should be notified ASAP. If at any time during the flight an actual technical anomaly occurs, consider liaison with Engineering and discontinue the flight if necessary.
