Evaluation Rubric. Unit 2 Detailing General Actions- Obligations and Responsibilities

EP. Evidence Part 1: Create an illustrated safety manual with international signs (recommendations and/or restrictions) in their study area (Engineering, mechatronics, electronics, communications or biotechnology) with 20 signs in alphabetical order. The explanations of this signs should contain at least one sentence written using modals Have to, must or should for each sign. It means, it should be at least 20 sentences with modals. This is a pairwork activity. Learning objective: To identify the core ideas of signing (recommendations and restrictions). To elaborate general and specialized texts that guide to a reader-writer dialogue. Evaluation Areas:

Spelling (20%)= Write correctly the word with no mistakes. Grammar and structure (30%)= To write according to the grammar learned in class. To structure the sentences following grammar guidelines. Neatness (10%) = professional looking form, clean, no wrinkles, neat. Content (40%)= to write using modals covering the number of signals and sentences and to write about the topic assigned in Arial font 12 points, according to the guidelines of creativity, images, content and design of Universidades Politcnicas. (see the evaluation criteria chart).

The evidence should contain the following:

1. Cover letter with rubic fill form: This cover letter includes UPC logo, Career,
level, (Period), student name unit number and name of the evidence. At the right lower corner it should have a square with the rubric as follows: -Spelling -Grammar and structure -Neatness -Content Total Score

2. Introduction and Objectives. A brief introduction explaining the content and the
objective of the evidence written in short sentences (100 words)

3. Assignment. The 20 signs with its sentences written using modals and the
grammar structures learned in class.

ED. Evidence Part 2: Make a creative oral presentation of their safety manual demonstrating their speaking and pronunciation skills. The techniques for the presentation will be a training session among three partners including the ones in the team and should bring visual aids, power point presentation without letters or a video. The training session should take place in a training room of a laboratory, factory or company. Presentation must be 5 minutes length. All the multimedia devices should be prepared prior the presentation. Learning objective: To know about English safety procedures and feel comfortable discussing about this topic in a panel. Evaluation Areas: Knowledge 40 % = Be able to produce the clear explanation of speech well enough to be understood, choosing the right vocabulary and using grammar structures to put clauses and sentences together. Speaking 30 %= Creativity 20 %= Pronounce individual sounds clearly and with fluency. Oral presentation preparation, innovation, visual aids, technology, organization, music and other resources.

Performance 10 %=Personal grooming, non-verbal tools such as gestures and facial expressions using formal clothes. Other body language, such as eye contact, posture, positioning and movement of the head. Verbal tools such as changes in volume. Multimedia Devices prepared in advance. The evaluation of the oral activity will be as it is detailed next:
