Outfit Interview Process

Spring 2013 Most Outstanding Freshman and Sophomore Interviews Purpose

The purpose of these interviews is to ensure that there is a consistent, unbiased, and fair process to determine the Most Outstanding Sophomore and Freshman Cadets in each outfit for the 2012-2013 school year.

Requirements
Grades (freshman or sophomore) Cadet must have a Cumulative GPR of 2.85 or higher Freshmen who are currently in their first semester within the Corps (transfer outfits/new outfits) must have a semester GPR of a 2.85 from any previous semester at Texas A&M. Cadet cannot be on any probation from the Corps or University. Cadet cannot have a police record of a felony or misdemeanor that would reflect badly on the Corps/University. (i.e speeding tickets/parking violations can be overlooked). They must have at least one PFT score over 250. If cadet has an extenuating circumstance use your best judgment

Procedure
Outfits will be assigned a time and location (see matrix) to conduct these interviews. A CTO has signed up and will be present at every interview. This process consists of three portions; an Application, Interview and Inspection. The respective points are listed below.

Application 25 Points 10 - Grades 10 - PT 5 - Cadets Prior performance based of Commanders experience Inspection 25 Points 20 Cadet Cuts 5 Cadet Knowledge Interview 50 Points 10 - ROTC Information 30 - Corps Information 20 Other I.) Application

Applications are attached to this packet but are only required at the MU and Corps level interview. The outfits will choose which of their cadets to interview by taking into account the

GPR and PT score requirements only. At the MU and Corps level, these applications will be filled out and submitted prior to the interview process. They will be neatly hand written in ALL CAPS with black ink. If writing is not legible then the application will be discounted. II.) Inspection

In the Inspection, cadets will wear Bravos and will be inspected using the Uniform Inspection Sheet provided. This can be done prior to or after the interview process, but NOT during. It is suggested that someone be designated to inspect cadets as they are waiting to go to their interview. III.) Interview

Interviews will be conducted by the IG Officer for that outfit or the Commanding Officer. There will only be allowed a maximum of four graders in the interview room; the required individuals are the designated CTO, Outfit Commander, and outfit IG officer. The list of questions to choose from is provided as well as their respective point value. After the interview is completed, the Commanders will ensure that the score sheets are complete and properly filled out. There is only one question that is subjective, the points of which will be determined by the average score of the 4 graders opinion.
The interview process consist of three categories; ROTC info, Corps Info. and Other. For questions and answers, see Most Outstanding Workbook (Outfit Level) Excel Sheet.

Conclusion
Once all of the point totals are compiled, the cadet with the highest score out of 100 is the top cadet (freshman and sophomore) for that outfit. At which time the Commanding Officer will submit this cadet to the MU level interview process, and they will in turn do their own interview to select Most Outstanding cadet for the Major Units. There will be no deviation from this format on questions or any other portion of the selection process. If there are any questions about anything please refer them to either the Corps IG Sergeant or Officer.
