Guidelines for using the computing Facilities within the Campus LAN and IPC Labs On the basis of a request from SWD and also students community, the Internet down times in the hostel is now revised and it is from 9.00am to 1.00pm (cut timings) every working day. Through this notice, we also request all the users of the campus LAN and IPC facility (students/faculty) to adhere to the donts as given below. Don'ts 1. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. You should not get involved in any kind of hacking activities. You are not permitted to change system settings in IPC terminal rooms. You are not permitted to misuse the e-mail facility. You are not permitted to download or play computer games in IPC. Food and drinks are not allowed inside the IPC terminals. You are not permitted to browse the social networking sites (like, Facebook, Orkut, etc.. for a longer period in the IPC labs) 6. You are not permitted to install personal software in IPC labs. 7. You are not permitted to attach any equipment onto the IPC computer except a pen drive. 8. Don't access inappropriate or obscene material in the IPC labs. 9. The IPC technical staff may conduct checks of Internet history, documents, emails, etc. if any threat is reported or otherwise as routine checkups without violating students privacy. 10.You are permitted to carry books and bags into the IPC terminals. 11.Any damage or theft to IPC terminal machines (keyboard, mouse, patch cord etc) will be charged to all students through SWD. 12.You are not allowed to run Proxies in your hotel rooms (on your own machines). 13.If you are running any P2P file sharing software (particularly Hubs) on your machine to serve others, it is your responsibility to see that there are no social damages or threats/complaints/mis-usages (privacy breaches) to any other student or faculty in the campus or to the Institute. If any such compliant is reported (either active or passive), IPC will report the matter to Disciplinary committee. 14. You should not open any Switch rack or server room or any cable port in your hostel. 15.Complaints regarding the networking ports may be reported to IPC office at B218. Technical staff will attend the same in a days time.
