WORK CLEARENCE MANGEMENT (PM-WCM)

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Maintenance and Inspection work for the technical object may only be carried out when work safety measures have been implemented. These safety measures include lockout/tagout, fire protection, radiation protection etc. In lockout/tagout, for example, technical objects are isolated electrically or separated mechanically from other parts of the technical system while maintenance work or special tests are performed. Work on these technical objects can then be performed safely. Work Clearance Management (PM-WCM) component can be used to control and monitor the safety measures to ensure work safety of the employees. WCM component can replace the Permit to Work (PTW) system employed by almost all petrochemical and utilities industry.

2.0 WCM ARCHITECTURE

PM-WCM architecture defines relationship between WCM Objects and can be selected from following models:

2.1.

Standard Model
Standard Model is used when Lockout/Tagout is of primary importance.

2.2.

Enhanced Model
Enhanced Model is used when Safety Measures (radiation protection, safety in the workplace, and fire protection) are also required in addition to Lockout/Tagout.

Additional Applications

3.0 WCM OBJECTS

Objects that supports in Work Clearance Management process for assignment of administrative data, status, approvals, technical objects etc. and good for communication between departments.

PM-WCM

Following are the objects used for WCM with the responsible departments. WCM Object Work Approval Work Clearance Application Work Clearance Document Area of Responsibility Plant Maintenance, Production Plant Maintenance, Production Production

4.0 WCM ACTIVATION IN ORDER

The Maintenance Orders for which WCM is activated are marked as WCM-relevant orders. Activation of WCM for Maintenance Order can be performed by two ways: i. ii. Assigning Permits to the Order. Assigning control key WCM to operations in an order.

5.0 ORDER PROCESSING WITH WCM

Process flows for the WCM Orders defined in PM-WCM are classified as follows: i. ii. iii. Order Processing without Valuation Order Processing with Valuation Order Processing with WCM-Relevant Operations

6.0 EXAMPLE - ORDER PROCESSING WITHOUT VALUATION STANDARD MODEL 6.1. Scenario
For the WCM Order creation we have created equipment for which maintenance is required to be performed and child equipment for the parent equipment is created which is required to be locked-out and tagged-out for performance of maintenance activity safely. Note that it is not necessary to have a parent child relationship for the equipment(s) to be tagged out.

Procedure

Here MP denotes Maintenance Planner (i.e. Maintenance Engineer) and WP denotes Work Clearance
Planner (i.e. Safety Engineer) who will perform the respective steps as follows. MP Order Creation

Order creation is not necessary if you just want to use WCM for documentation of safety measures on the assets without planning or cost collection. 1. Type transaction code IW31 in Command Field on SAP Easy Access Screen.
