In 2013, Klosterneuburg Monastery orangery will be presenting the International Orchid Exhibition for the ninth time. With an area covering 1,80 0m2, the exhibition is the biggest of its type in Austria. As in recent years, around 35,000 visitors are expected in 2013. Numerous orchid flowers, rare plants and a coordinated supporting programme with interesting package deals for groups await. We would be delighted to welcome you at our exhibition. New! Botanical Gardens Leiden The Hortus botanicus Leiden, founded in 1590, is the oldest botanical gardens in The Netherlands, and has been an institute of the University of Leiden since then. In addition to teaching and being open to the public, research is the third pillar which has been important ever since the foundation of the Hortus. The orchid collection of the gardens is internationally renowned, and rare species are still collected and described, especially in New Guinea. A special find is the recently described Bulbophyllum nocturnum, the only species of orchid whose flowers unfold at night.
