The Existence of God and the Proofs of his existence Although the article is very scholarly and well

written, it is easy to understand in the respect that Descartes makes his opinion very clear. He asserts his proofs clearly and cohesively and there is no room for discrepancy. First of all, he makes it very clear that we have an innate knowledge of gods existence, however there is the unknown. There is this paradox that comes up several times of having knowledge, but also not being able to comprehend something that is so powerful. Therefore, we have a premonition of gods existence, but we need proof. Descartes makes it extremely clear that there is a supreme god, eternal, infinite, [immutable], omnipotent and the creator of all things that exist apart from him. The idea of god is put together in the mind, and it is stated in the piece that thoughts are not ideas. While imagining the perfect image of god, we are giving a definitive nature to what god is. This adds a lot of discrepancy and a lot of doubt within social groups; however, if there was no god, there would be no god. Every image of god that we have is based on a prior idea that we have of what god is. There are some indisputable things that we know about god. There are three essential claims that must be established. I am (I exist), God exists, corporeal things exist. Without these three claims, the proof of god is essentially impossible. The other point that Descartes proves is the perfection of God. God is an existence that is more perfect than I. If we multiply the perfections inside of us, that is the definition of English. These perfections are constructed by the human mind and put together the infinite perfections that god is equal to. Every human living on this planet wants to be perfect; however, the only perfect thing is god. Perfection is so incomprehensible that it cannot be defined; however, sometimes we catch glimpses of perfection. We strive for perfection, surrounded by other perfections, with god as the ultimate end point.

The last point that Descartes makes is attempting to explain infinity. Much like perfection, infinity is incomprehensible and we are only capable of what our minds will let us understand. If you give infinity a finite value that we are familiar with, itll become comprehensible. We aspire to reach infinity or perfection, but the only thing that can reach that is god. God can be seen as infinite. All of his attributes are infinite and perfect.
