POSITION DESCRIPTION
Green Timbers Covenant Church
A Multi-Cultural, Multi-Generational
Christ Centred Community
Objective: Green Timbers, a multi-cultural, multi-generational, Christ centred community, desires to build
disciples of Jesus Christ who will live out a missional faith. The Minister to Youth and Family will help the
church fulfill this calling among the youth and children of the church and surrounding community. As young
people move into the pre-teenage and teenage years they make important life decisions as they start to grow
in independence and can be easily distracted from a Christ-like life. The selected candidate will build relation-
ships with youth and their families, with a particular emphasis on those who are between grades five and
seven. This person will also provide support to various ministries in Green Timbers that involve these young
people and their families and our spiritual formation ministries for children.
Reporting and Supervision: The director of youth and family reports directly to the senior pastor of Green
Timbers with regular communication with church leadership.
Responsibilities: The selected candidate is expected to perform the following duties:
• Relational: The primary responsibility of this position is to develop relationships, and to encourage
others in the church to develop relationships, with the youth of our church that will encourage our
young people to develop as disciples of Jesus Christ. Relationships will also be built with the families
of the youth and children, the church at large and community.
• Leadership: This position is viewed as part of the pastoral staff of the church and the minister should
be prepared to give leadership to the whole church through participation in the church community and
its ministries.
• Administrative: Give leadership and oversight to the church’s ministries to youth as well as our
children’s ministries.
• Ministry Empowerment: Work with the youth, and the youth and children’s ministry volunteers to
nurture their leadership of our ministries and their spiritual formation as well.
• Teamwork: Work alongside the senior pastor, staff and other leadership to facilitate the mission and
vision of Green Timbers Covenant Church
Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess the following skills, characteristics or background:
• A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
• Training in Christian education, theology and ministry (preferred)
• Experience in leadership with youth and/or children
• Commitment to team ministry
• Experience and/or interest in multicultural ministry
• Commitment to and knowledge of the Evangelical Covenant Church is helpful
Terms and Conditions:
• Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week.
• Pay & Benefits: Base salary is $19,500-$23,500 depending on experience and training. Benefits
include the employer’s portion of CPP, EI, WCB, mileage reimbursement, and support for attending
conferences and continuing education. In addition, the hired candidate will also receive holiday pay
that is equivalent to 4% of base salary.
• Growing position: Our hope is that this position is one that will grow with the church as we continue
to revitalize our church and its ministries.
• Commitment: We are seeking a commitment of at least two years for this position.
