Mechanism of Action Works by inhibiting the mucopeptide synthesis in the bacterial cell wall. The beta-lactam moiety of Ceftriaxone binds to carboxypepti dases, endopeptidas es, and transpeptidas es in the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane. These enzymes are involved in cell-wall synthesis and cell division. By binding to these enzymes, Ceftriaxone results in the formation of defective cell walls and cell death.

Indication Treatment of infections of the lower respirator y tract, acute bacterial otitis media, skin & skin structure infection, UTI, uncomplic ated gonorrhea, pelvic inflammat ory disease, bacterial septicemia , bone & joint infections, intraabdominal infections, meningitis
