www.rttctvm.bsnl.co.in Notification Dated: 15-01-2013 BSNL CERTIFIED OPTICAL FIBER TECHNICIAN OVERVIEW Fiber optic telecommunication technology has revolutionized the communication links with the unlimited provision of Bandwidth. The telecom sector now, is witnessing huge demand for the trained technicians specialized in fiber optic communications. To fill up this growing demand for skilled technicians in optical communication, BSNL, the pioneer telecommunication provider in India, is launching a certification program in Optical FiberCables and Systems. The course provides hands on training in splicing of fiber optic cables and maintenance of fiber optic networks. It describes the technical details of fiber optic cables, connectorization, splicing, passive devices, fiber optic receivers, transmitters, test equipments and troubleshooting. It also incorporates many of the current industry standards pertaining to optical fiber communication. Field Training (4 Weeks)

The trainees are exposed to the real world of Fiber Optic Transmission Network deployed by BSNL in Kerala. The trainees will get opportunity to assist the BSNL Engineers and Technical team members with respect to the monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of the network.

LEARNING OUTCOME Through this uniquely designed industry oriented training initiative, the trainee shall

gain a deeper understanding of fiber optic communication technology be able to splice, troubleshoot and maintain a fiber optic communication network be recognized as a fiber optic technician.

TRAINING METHOD The training programme is supported with Audio-Video aided Classroom lectures and interactions. The instructor will lead you to the focus on the key knowledge and skills you need to understand the optical fiber technology from an overall perspective. In class discussions and hand on practice sessions in high tech optical fiber systems laboratories will provide confidence to the participants to apply the learned knowledge and techniques in the actual industry environment at an expected level of a technician. In addition to this, the trainees are exposed to the maintenance aspects of fiber networks deployed by BSNL in Kerala. WHO CAN APPLY 1. Candidates who have passed SSLC or Equivalent. 2. Candidates with higher qualifications such as Plus Two, ITI or Diploma in Engineering are also eligible to apply. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 1. The candidates while undergoing this course should appear for examinations / assessment tests conducted during the course to secure the certification from BSNL RTTC. 2. The candidates will be awarded following grades based on their performance in the examinations /assessments conducted by BSNL RTTC a. Grade A+ b. Grade A c. Grade B+ d. Grade B e. Grade C f. Failed CERTIFICATE BSNL will award certificates to trainees on successful completion of the course. PLACEMENT No placement or Placement assistance will be provided by BSNL.
