INTRODUCTION

The Faculty of Applied Sciences and Mathematics (FASM) was established on January 1st 2008 and was initially known as the Centre for Foundation Studies. It is strategically located at the heart of UNISEL, merely walking distance to the mosque, a three-storey library and student residential areas. It is also well equipped with 52 science and computer laboratories to make the teaching and learning process more interesting and hands-on. Currently FASM offers FIVE programs: BSc. (Honors) in Mathematics with Statistics Foundation in Engineering Foundation in Biotechnology/Medical Science Foundation in Information Technology Diploma in Industrial Technology Besides our local students, FASM also has a number of international students mainly from the Arabic countries. It is also interesting to note that our foundation programs are well recognized. This is due to the fact that some of our students are currently pursuing their degree in engineering, food sciences and pharmacy in other reputable universities such as UTM, UTP, UNITEN, MMU, UCSI, UDM and Masterskills. There are also students who are pursuing medicine and biotechnology in Indonesia and Australia respectively. As for our academic staff, they are constantly keeping abreast of the current developments in the education industry by attending various seminars and courses. In fact, 40 % of them are currently furthering studies in masters and PhD levels. (a) Mdm Rus Mahayuni Abdul Rahman, BSc. Applied Physics, MSc.
