What artist would you say you are most comparable to?

Thats a hard question...I cant say really. Im more of a fusion between Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, and Rihanna.
If you could do a duet or collaborate with any musician/artist dead or alive who would it be and why?

That would definitely be Sade. Shes super soul and a bit old school, but shes like my idol! Her music never gets old to me. NEVER!
If you could travel back to any decade of music, what time period would you go to?

What era was disco? The 60s? 70s? I love the disco era though! So colorful and the music is so groovy! Everything about the vibe of that genre just feels good.
Whats your biggest addiction?

My biggest addiction by far is being a people pleaser. I love interaction with people and I love to make sure everyone is well taken care of.
Describe yourself in one sentence:

THE EASTERN SEA

(An Interview with The Match Wasnt for Love A Lie
Who are you listening to?

If you like Real Estate , you'll love:: Listen to:

Matt Hines)

Only thing I can think of is that Im a true Libra at heart.

If today was your last day on earth how would you spend it?

I would scrap up whatever money I have to somehow rent out the stage at Times Square and perform my best performance in the heart of New York City.
Whats the craziest thing youve ever done?

Honestly, perhaps it was learning Japanese so I could post videos of me singing Jpop on YouTube! Little did I know it would get me noticed and flown out to Tokyo to perform on a TV show for two seasons.
If you could only own five possessions, what would they be?

Well thats actually cool because we actually just bought a bunch of CDs for our van: Papa John Misty, Sarah Jaffe, Metronomy Weve been listening a lot to the band were on tour with, Kopecky Family Band. I listen to a lot of pop radioI get my fill of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga and shit like that. I know every song out there, you know? We love KeshaMe and my girlfriend are very huge Kesha fans.
Being from Austin, how does playing there compare to playing shows in other cities?

theeasternsea.com

Check'em out:

we werent gonna be able to get in. We used the printers in McGarrah Jessee and looked to see what color wristbands they gave the VIPs. So we printed out paper, [made wristbands] and spray painted them gold, and just walked out on the rooftop and got free drinks all night. It was Grimes, Subtract and A$AP Rocky.
What is it like playing SXSW?

Piano, pool table, Nissan Skyline GTR, Xbox 360, laser light display (I love club lights! I would set em up in my hallway if I could!)

Austin is not, I would say, in our top 10 list of places where people are into brand new stuff. [Theres a] follow-the-leader mentality. And if you gain national popularity, you do well in Austin. We play a lot of college cities, but college is one of those places where if college kids dont know about you already, its gonna be hard.
What was the best show you saw at SXSW last year?

At the top of McGarrah Jessee, msn or something like thatMicrosoftwas running a party up there, a really huge party, and we knew

I think this is a very big year for uswere not playing in the little leagues, playing a bunch of crap little shows for Lonestar beer where nobodys at. This is the real deal for us. Its pressure but its a lot of excitement. The other thing is you play all these shows and its crazy and you dont even know how its gonna pan out til May or June, if anything is even worth anything. You just have to enjoy it and hope that someone sees your face. I like being aggressive, I like playing no-huddle offense, just doing it. Playing as good as I possibly can and executing consistently. Your tagline is Dirty Shinecan you explain what exactly that means?

Dirty Shine is just kind of something I came up with that means embracing your authentic selfwhatever it is, whoever you are.
How would you describe your sound?

Its one of the harder questions for me, but if I was gonna explain it, I would say back porch blues meets hip hop. I love hip hop beats and I love the stories of Nas and Jay-Z and getting out of where they were and making more of their lives and I really connected to that.
What can people expect at a ZZ Ward show?

inehouse,

Our music, especially the first record, its a hybrid. Its a lot of influences put together, and then its obviously soul music, Motown influence in there, indie influence, indie rock and hip hopand its all mixed together in a blender makes you want to dance.

Weve had some crazies weve had to have carried off. When youre touching someone in a deep emotional, personal way and they happen to be a little cuckoo, it gets a little strange. Flatteringwith a bodyguard.
What was it like touring with Maroon 5?

Capital CitiesI love them. Haimthose are my girls, I love them as people and Im just a huge fan of their music. Theyre amazing. Im lucky enough to have my friends from The Airborne Toxic Events new record before [it comes out], and then Walk the Moon, who we took out on the road, and theyre doing great.
Have you had any crazy tour experiences?

That was very early days and that was one of the magic moments that happened at the beginning.Adam, who apparently hates everything, fell in love with our band. All the sudden we went to opening up for them. It was a big break and they were super nice.

They can expect to be called out if they got their arms crossed and theyre sitting down, thats for sure. Theres nothing pretentious about this bandwe dont think were too cool for school; we want people to let their hair down and have fun with us.

I think its a very dynamic showtheres moments where you wanna stand up and dance and there are some more kind of intimate momentswhere its just me and my guitar. What they can expect most is just a great energyan energy thats contagious.

How would you explain your music to someone whos never heard it before?

Its so hard. We love classic rock, but we also lovewe grew up in the 90sso we love like Aaliyah and Destinys Child, but really its an agglomeration of what we grew up with90s with a classic twist.
Youre nominated for multiple NME (New Music Express) awards. Were you surprised?

fans, and just the fact that he heard our name and repeated it is a life changer. Literally, I can die happy now.
How was playing support shows for Mumford and Sons and Florence + The Machine?

We got nominated for four! I got nominated for Best Twitter, which was insane to me! I literally cried! I literally just tweet about puppies and nail polish, those are my favorite things to tweet about in the world. Thats all I do all day.
When you were nominated for your NMEs, Mick Jagger responded with: Haim? Never heard of them. What did you think about that?

I mean we were so excitedMick Jagger SAID our band name. We are the biggest Rolling Stones

They were both so amazing and so different. With Mumford we were playing these festivals, and it was like every Friday we would get to a random city in the United States, and we would all get there on Friday and party our asses off. There were nine bands and Mumford always scheduled a party. It was the craziest thing; it was like summer camp. Then we would all play shows on Saturday and party Saturday night and leave on Sunday and wait to see each other next Friday. And then Florence was insaneall the sudden we were playing with Florence which is like 20,000 peopleI was like shitting myself, I was so nervous.

Forget Vegas! Youve got all the fun for, like, none of the price, right at the 7-Eleven! All you need is quarters, naivety, and time to kill!

Go Bootleg
Of course you cant afford the movies or Netflix. For a cheaper price, you get the same thing, but with a bonus. Shaky camera work and an audience thats right there with you! Priceless.

Road Trip
Time to hit the roadand end up in some creepy town thats cheap and totally Chainsaw Massacre-chic. Sure, its a horror movie in the making, but itll be a great story for the grandkids!

SWEETHEART OF THE MONTH

Percila Richardson
Age: 19 Height: 58 School: University of Georgia Major: Psychology Relationship Status: Single One thing that impresses you when youre out on a date? When they have a good sense of humor and can constantly keep me laughing. Whats the creepiest move a guy has ever tried to pull on you? On spring break one of my sisters and I asked a guy we just met what fraternity he was in and he responded with, None, Im a rapist. What are your plans after Graduation? Go to grad school and travel the world. All-time favorite TFM or TSM? I will stop drinking when Captain Morgan puts his foot down. TFM.

Top 10 Fraternity House Pranks

Steal their phone and snapchat pictures of feet to everyone Because no one wants to be known as the guy whos into feet stuff. Fill their room with telephone book paper Take all the house telephone books, rip out and crumple every page and throw them into your brothers room to create a mountain of paper and a laborious pledge task. Board up their room Grab a drill and some two by fours and turn their room into a prison. Especially hilarious during finals week. Indoor fireworks Ever thrown firecrackers at someone while they puked their balls up? Well its really fun. Bury them in furniture when theyre passed out. Because he deserves to be punished for passing out early. Spray your brother with a fire extinguisher Its lazy, sure. But its also hilarious. Draw a huge dick on his back Maybe he passed out the night before a float trip, maybe you guys are hitting the pool the next day. Either way, he wont know about this until its way too late. Perfectly rearrange his room on the lawn or roof So much effort goes into this that he wont be able to be madmaybe. Bonus points if you plug everything in. Military Grade Weaponry Rolling a smoke grenade into your brothers room as hes getting with a 4 is a great way to save him from the next mornings shame. Cover the passed out guy in sunless tanner Forget sharpies, sunless tanner isnt getting washed off any time soon. His life might be miserable for a week or two.

DYNAMITE ELECTROLYTES
INGREDIENTS c. Blood Orange + Mixed Berry (the flavor of Vitamin Water) or another flavored sports drink 1 oz. Vodka or tequila Ice
PHOTO: HELIOSPHAN

DIRECTIONS 1. Combine Vitamin Water and alcohol well. 2. Serve over ice and enjoy some hydration and intoxication.

DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 2. Add 1 tbsp. vegetable oil to large skillet and heat it up. 3. Add the broccoli slaw and garlic, and cook down. 4. Add the soy sauce, cook for another minute. 5. Take skillet off heat and allow to cool for a minute. Stir in chopped shrimp until well incorporated. 6. Grease sheet pan. 7. To assemble egg rolls, lay wrapper on a clean, dry surface with the corner pointing towards you, so its sitting in a diamond shape, not square.

8. Add a spoonful of filling to center, being careful not to overfill. 9. Fold corner closest to you up and over filling, rolling tightly halfway up wrapper (away from you) to cover filling. 10. Fold left and right sides of wrapper to center against the filling, so that three sides of the mixture is covered and contained. 11. Moisten the top edge of the wrapper and finish rolling and wrapping to complete the eggroll. 12. Bake for 15-17 minutes, turning halfway through cooking. Serve with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce and Sriracha.

INGREDIENTS 3/4 c. Chocolate coconut water 1 large shot Chocolate vodka (try Three Olives) Ice DIRECTIONS 1. Combine vodka and coconut water in shaker with ice. (If you dont have a shaker, try using two cups) 2. Strain, transfer to glass and serve chilled.

SKINS CRISPY POTATO

PHOTO: LARA604

Don't stress. Things spill, people eat a lot, and things dont turn out well. Just plan for the worst and hope for the best.

INGREDIENTS 8 Idaho baking potatoes Olive oil Salt and pepper 1 1/2 c. Cheese (try jalapeno cheddar) DIRECTIONS 1. Cook Idaho baking potatoes, either in oven or in microwave. (Remember to poke holes in the potato to allow steam to escape and to use NO aluminum foil in the microwave!) 2. Once the potatoes have cooled enough to handle, rub the skins with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt and cracked pepper. 3. Cut potatoes in half long-ways. Scoop out most of potato so there is just a thin layer of filling

4-5 pieces Cooked bacon Chives, to taste Diced jalapenos (optional) Sour cream for garnish

MEATBALL MADNESS
INGREDIENTS 1 pkg. Frozen meatballs 1 can Cranberry jelly 1 bottle Chili sauce Miniature rolls DIRECTIONS 1. Bake meatballs according to directions on package. 2. In crockpot or large pot, mix cranberry jelly and chili sauce until well incorporated, adding heat if necessary to fully mix. 3. Add baked meaballs to pot and slather in sauce. 4. Split miniature rolls and stuff with meatballs to make mini meatball subs!

4. 5. 6.

remaining. (Save the filling for baked potato soup or mashed potatoes.) Cut potato in half the opposite direction. Bake skins for an additional 10-15 minutes at 375-400 degrees. FUN STUFF

HOROSCOPES SPOT THE DIFFERENCE THATS A FACT JACK

Can you spot the 5 differences between the two photos?

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE!

MARCH

The stars tell you whats in store this season.

Aries - Those long mornings at the gym and all
of those donuts youve rejected have really paid off. Expect some major flirt-age the next time you go out.

Taurus - Youve been stressing out for weeks,

and its about time you relax. Spend your weekend actually having fun, which means ditching your books and hitting the streets.

Gemini - You always go to the same place on the weekends. Be impulsive. Cancel your boring plans and do something completely wild just dont get yourself killed, please. Cancer - Your love life lacks spontaneity and romance. Its time to stop worrying about what everything means and just go with it. Give that hot bartender at the bar a chance. Leo - You crave a new scene, but you and your friends are stuck in a rut. Take the reins and plan a stellar weekend to amp up your lackluster social life. Virgo - Rough start this semester, so trade
MTV for the books, like, now. (Though we also prefer Teen Mom to calc.)

Libra -

Dont let indecision prevent you from having fun this Spring Break. Time with old friends is just what you need. You will have too many opportunities to get yourself into trouble during Spring Break. Just make sure you make it back to school to finish the semester.

Scorpio -

THATS A FACT JACK

CDs were first introduced in 1983. Most toilets flush in E flat. Warner communications paid $28 million for the legal use of "Happy Birthday". The first pop video was released in 1975.
