ELECTROMAGNETIC EFFECTS

Electromagnetism is the branch of science concerned with the forces that occur between electrically charged particles. In electromagnetic theory these forces are explained using electromagnetic fields. The electromagnetic force is one of the four fundamental interactions in nature Electromagnetism manifests as both electric fields and magnetic fields. Both fields are simply different aspects of electromagnetism, and hence are intrinsically related - a changing electric field generates a magnetic field; conversely a changing magnetic field generates an electric field. This effect is called electromagnetic induction, and is the basis of operation for electrical generators, induction motors, and transformers 1.Electric charges attract or repel one another with a force inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them: unlike charges attract, like ones repel. 2.Magnetic poles (or states of polarization at individual points) attract or repel one another in a similar way and always come in pairs: every north pole is yoked to a south pole. 3.An electric current in a wire creates a circular magnetic field around the wire, its direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise) depending on that of the current. 4.A current is induced in a loop of wire when it is moved towards or away from a magnetic field, or a magnet is moved towards or away from it, the direction of current depending on that of the movement Magnetism is a property of materials that respond to an applied magnetic field that cause the material to be either attracted or repelled.A region of space near a magnet, electric current, or moving charged particle in which a magnetic force acts on any other magnet, electric current, or moving charged particle. PROPERTIES OF MAGNETIC FIELD LINES 1)they never intersect each other 2)they move from north to south inside and south to north out side the magnet 3)magnetic field lines of force are crowded(i.e. close to each other) in a region of strong magnetic field.on other hand magnetic lines of force are far from each other in a region of weak magnetic field. 4)they are closed continues curves

Magnetic Flux Magnetic flux is the number of magnetic field lines passing through a surface placed in a magnetic field. We show magnetic flux with the Greek letter; . We find it with following formula; =Bx.A.sin Where is the magnetic flux and unit of is Weber (Wb) B is the magnetic field and unit of B is Tesla A is the area of the surface and unit of A is m2

magnetic flux density a measure of the strength of a magnetic field at a given point, expressed by the force per unit length on a conductor carrying unit current at that point. Symbol B. The tesla (symbol T) is the SI derived unit of magnetic flux density, 8
