I upgraded my Windows XP Home to Windows 7 via a 'clean' install yesterday. Since I loaded Windows 7, I have absolutely no sound. I have tried most of the really basic fixes...otherwise I wouldn't have posted here. I have a Toshiba P100 PSPA3C-SD300E. Help!

HI MrCheese09 check the bios settings if it disabled the audio settings(update bios)

In most cases, Windows will automatically detect the new hardware and install the necessary software drivers. If Windows does not automatically install the software drivers, Try Running Windows update, hope it finds the suitable driver if you are installed latest driver then run the Sound Device Troubleshooter by going to control panel search pane, type trouble shoot, click on find and fix problems, select sound and check the issue you can visit Toshiba site for more information on your satellite book for your convenience http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp? nav=Download&sn=false click the link select your model and download the drivers and check the issue. Important Note : This response contains a reference to a third party World Wide Web site. we are providing this information as a convenience to you. it may change without notice, Microsoft doesn't give guaranty on provided links. Does it Work? Nikhil

Thanks, but....besides checking the bio settings to see if it disabled the audio settings, which Im not entirely sure how to do, Ive done

the rest of what you suggested numerous times. The Toshiba website doesn't have this particular driver...although I know it exists because Ive read on other forums people having the same issue.

Hi you can open Device Manager and verify whether there is an exclamation mark or question in it. If so, please right click it and upgrade the driver. please update BIOS if not updated Verify whether the "Windows Audio" service is started or not.Click Start, type Services.msc in the Start Search box. 2. Scroll down the list of services, right-click Windows Audio and select Start . 3. Select Properties for Windows Audio and set its Startup Type to Automatic . try loading default settings in BIOS (you will get a option to set default) check the issue. Are you getting any error? Hey again, There is a exclamation mark on a yellow background. Driver is up to date. I don't know how to update bios. Windows Audio is not an active process that I can see. I don't know how to load the default bios. Will messing with the bio wipe any data? I need some data on here. Thanks again.

HI if you have not tried, follow this Uninstall the sound driver from system, reboot your system, if Toshiba not released driver for 7, try installing Vista or xp driver in compatibility mode.check the issue. right click on .exe file, properties, hit compatibility tab, run it from XP or vista depending on the driver you have. i have searched for it, after restarting press F2 to open Bios settings, search every options and instructions to see the audio

settings,i am not sure exactly where it located. think its intel high defination Audio Built-in harman/kardon stereo speakers Software Sound 16-bit stereo; Intel High Definition Audio, try updating from INTEL site I am searching for the site, if i get i will upload soon, you can search for it.

I have tried most of the really basic fixes...otherwise I wouldn't have posted here. I have a Toshiba P100 PSPA3C-SD300E. Help! Go to the Toshiba Support website @ http://support.toshibatie.co.jp/windows7/download/Satellite_P100_32_cae.htm and read the information about installing Windows 7 on your laptop. The manufacturer is always the best source for the necessary software and drivers for your computer.

In the case of your sound, the advice from Toshiba is to use the Vista drivers which you can download from the Toshiba Support website.
