Transference of Spirits #5 (How the spirit world is operating around you and on you for good or evil) Review:

The spirit realm transmits thoughts, feelings or emotions to influence actions and behavior patterns of nations, people groups and individuals for good or for evil. 1 Cor 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Armor is to Love the Truth: 1. Walk in the Spirit; 2. Worship in; 3. Sow to; 4. Feed Man is in Gods image and likeness as spirit to interact with both realms. We can still be influenced by the spirit of the world and of man until we renew the spirit of the mind to yield to the mind of God through His Word Our bodies have 5 gates for interaction with the natural realm. Faculties of the spirit are the conscience, where we know the leading of the spirit, intuition working with the intellect, and communion which is the spirits faculty for worship. Together, this is your heart to be guarded carefully because what influences one level of our being affects all. Setting the Guard - How do spirits transfer and influence us? 1. By association: 2. Through improper emotional and physical relationships: 3. By being defiled through words, music, pictures and wrong activities: A. Music B. Video and role playing games C. TV, Radio, Internet 4. By drugs, alcohol and occult practices: Glorify God with your spirit be renewed in the spirit of your mind New 5. Other things that defile the heart and allow transference: Hebrews 12:15 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; Unforgiveness will defile you and transfer poison to those under your influence. (Case) .. Acts 8:9-24 9 But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, 10 to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. 11 And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time. 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. 13 Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done. 14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, 19 saying, Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit. 20 But Peter said to him, Your money perish with you, because

you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! 21 You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. 22 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 23 For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity. 24 Then Simon answered and said, Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me. Simon influenced people by his spirit powers. Peter saw the bitterness and countered it. Simons response is typical: You pray for me, instead of me praying and repenting. Matthew 15:10-11 10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man. Matthew 15:16-20 16 So Jesus said, Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man. This applies to our own mouths and to the words we allow to be spoken into our hearts. Words carry power and spirit, life or death, the spirit of the world, of man or of God. Sometimes even "good things" dont come from God and can defile and transfer. Ezekiel 13:1-8 1 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, Hear the word of the LORD! 3 Thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! 4 O Israel, your prophets are like foxes in the deserts. 5 You have not gone up into the gaps to build a wall for the house of Israel to stand in battle on the day of the LORD. 6 They have envisioned futility and false divination, saying, Thus says the LORD! But the LORD has not sent them; yet they hope that the word may be confirmed. 7 Have you not seen a futile vision, and have you not spoken false divination? You say, The LORD says, but I have not spoken. 8 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you, says the Lord GOD. Many problems are caused when people say "thus says the Lord" when the Lord is not speaking. They may want to appear spiritual or, worse, to manipulate others. This is witchcraft in the church. Beware of those who approach you privately with a "word from God." Ask if they will speak it in the presence of leadership. Beware of anyone not submitted to spiritual authority, who operates independently, or who acts controlling. They are not of God. Leviticus 19:31 31 Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. Example of good things being defiling: Acts 16:16-18 16 Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. 17 This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation. 18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour.

Every word she said was true but not from the Spirit of truth. Beware what does not bare witness in your spirit, give peace, and line up with the revealed word of God. 1 John 4:1 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Dont allow just anyone to speak into or over your life. Know who and what they are. Follow the leading of your heart and check things out with the Word and authority. In Acts 16, the word possessed means "to have or hold," not to own. There is actually no such thing as demonic ownership. Even the "Gadarene demoniac" (Mk 5) had enough power of free will to run to Jesus, fall at his feet and worship him. Scripture uses the word "daimonizomai" which means "to be under the influence or power of a demon". No one is owned by a demon but even Christians can be influenced, deceived and, controlled by them. Thank God, in the name of Jesus we have the power to stop their influence, break their deception and end their control. "Divination" is "puthon" from putho (the name of the region of the oracle of Delphi. The word "soothsaying" means "to act as a seer, deliver an oracle, prophesy, or divine. Paul was irritated with her "ministry" and commanded the spirit to come out of her. Had he not, that spirit could have defiled and taken over control of that new church. Her tongue was a powerful force, endangering the spirit of others. In the case of the 10 spies, we see sinful nature tending to believe the bad before the good? (Example: bad reports about others tend to get us upset or to think badly of someone without ever really knowing if we got the truth or not. That is why it is so important for you not to entertain gossip and slandering talk of others. When we maintain close association with or come under the influence of someone with a spirit more powerful than ours, we are open to that persons spirit transferring to us. God has given us spiritual counterstrategies to prevent the transference of an evil spirit. 1. Control your own spirit. (Joshua and Caleb did.) Be sure you do not develop a wrong spirit which you can transfer to others: Malachi 2:16 16 Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously. 2. Guard your ears. The ear is the primary entry point for evil spirits that produce slander, backbiting, gossip, dissension, disunity, and division, Protect your hearing from negative reports, accusations, and criticism. Direct the talebearer to righteousness. 3.Guard your tongue. The tongue can be used to create a breach in the spirit which provides access for the enemy. Watch what you say! Proverbs 10:19 19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise. 4. Guard your eyes. Pornographic material, violent movies, horror stories, etc., can transfer spirits of adultery, lust, violence, or fear. Guard your eyes from materials which can transfer wrong spirits. 5. Guard your affections. Do not just give your respect carelessly to anyone. Love even your enemies but dont open yourself up emotionally unless others deserve your trust. When you open yourself up, you become receptive to their spirit.

6. Carefully select your associates. The book of Proverbs warns repeatedly of associating with people with wrong spirits. Choose your close companions carefully. If you are a parent, carefully monitor the companions of your children. In the same manner, good spirits are transferred: from a simple God bless you to the more elaborate laying on of hands in commissioning ministers. Ephesians 5:18 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, The anointing presence in your life is Holy Spirit to teach you and cause remembrance of everything Jesus has said. Holy Spirit shows us all things necessary to abide. The Word says that if you ask God for His Holy Spirit, He will freely give Him so, ask, seek, and knock. It is His good pleasure to give to you all that pertains to life and godliness.
