Grades Homework: 0% Lab: 20% Quizzes: 15% Midterm: 25% Final Exam: 40% (50% Grade required on the nal to pass the course)

Holidays There will be no course activites on Monday February 11 (Family Day), Friday March 29 (Good Friday) or Monday April 1 (Easter Holiday) Quizzes There will be several short (10-20 min.) quizzes given in the beginning of some lectures, which will be collected and marked. Reasonable advance notice will be given before a quiz (approximately 1 week). Missed quizzes cannot be made up and will result in zero mark. In case of illness or other legitimate reason (with advanced notice and doctors note), the weight of missed quiz may be added to the nal exam. Exams Midterm: Mar 8 22 8:00 am MCLD 228 - Covering to end of Friday Feb 15 class Final Exam: Cumulative. Date & time TBD Academic Integrity A fundamental tenet of all educational institutions is academic honesty. Students who have engaged in copying the work of others or allowing others to copy from them will be disciplined appropriately.

Labs There will 4 Lab Experiments conducted in the Electromechanical Devices Laboratory (located in McLoed 130). It is each students responsibility to read all required material, print the lab manual and prepare for each Lab Experiment. The TA will check each persons preparedness by asking questions and reviewing your pre-lab notes. Failing to be prepared for the lab will result in a reduced the mark for that lab by 20%. The following general rules apply to the labs: 1. In order to pass this course, each student is required to write reports for all experiments. 2. In the beginning of each lab, each student must sign-in in the appropriate Sign-Up Sheet for that section. 3. Upon completing the experiment, each student will have to clear the work place and put away the equipment and wires. After the bench is checked by a TA, each student will have to sign-out. 4. Reports are due one week after the completion of the experiment. The collection of reports will be specied by the lab instructor. For example, the reports may be dropped in a dedicated Box located in the hallway in MCLD building with the label EECE 365 corresponding to your class. If this is the case, the TAs will be picking them up only once at 4:00 PM that day. In any case, your lab instructor will very clearly state the turning-in procedure. 5. All late report must be given directly to the TA who will record the time and date of submission. Late submission will result in reduced marks (10% per day). Lab reports submitted more than three days (including holidays) after the due date are not accepted (zero mark). 6. Students may discuss among themselves the problems in each lab experiment; however the turned-in report must show the individual work and reect the individual understanding of material by the student. 7. Reports suspected of cheating will not be graded (zero mark). The lab schedule is as follows: Lab Lab Lab Lab Lab Group 1: Linear Solenoids 2: DC Motor 3: I-Motor 4: S-Motor L2A(W) Jan 23 Feb 6 Mar 6 Mar 20 L2B(Th) Jan 24 Feb 7 Mar 7 Mar 21 L2C(Tu) Jan 15 Jan 29 Mar 12 Mar 26 L2D(M) Jan 21 Feb 4 Mar 4 Mar 18 L2E(M) Jan 21 Feb 4 Mar 4 Mar 18 L2F(M) Jan 14 Jan 28 Mar 11 Mar 25 LFG(W) Jan 16 Jan 30 Mar 13 Mar 27

Homework Problems Assignments will not be handed in for marks, however, tutorials and quizzes will be based on the assignments. Solutions will be provided for assignments before they are tested. Assignment 1: Chap. 1: Example 1.3 and 1.4; Problems 1.2; 1.3; 1.7; 1.8 Tutorial Chap. 3: Example 3.4; Problems 3.5; 3.6 (parts a, b, and c) Assignment 2: Chap. 4: Examples 4.9; 4.10; 4.13; Problems 4.23 (parts a, b, c, d); 4.25; 4.27; and 4.35 Assignment 3: Make sure to read Appendix B. Do Examples B1, and B2 (in part (e) consider three separate wattmeters one in each phase). Also, repeat Example B2 assuming Y-connected loads. Assignment 4: Will be on the midterm.
