ThisoperatingmanualcontainsinstructionsforoperatingEtubeProject. InordertofullyutilizethefunctionsofEtubeProject,pleasereadthismanualthoroughlybeforeuse.

Note: l Neverconnectordisconnectthebatteryandtheunitsafteryouhaveclicked[Next]intheunit connectionstandbywindow.Ifthisisnotobserved,itmaydamagetheSMPCE1ortheotherunits. l Neverattempttochangethecontentsofthefirmwarefilesorthefilenames.Ifyoudothis,itwillnotbe possibletoupdatethefirmwarecorrectly,andproblemsmayoccurwiththeunitsaftercarryingout firmwareupdates.

EtubeProjectisanapplicationforuseinthemaintenanceandproblemdiagnosisofthevariousunits.

Themainfunctionsareasfollows. Functions Customize Details Thisfunctionisusedtocustomizethegearshiftingsystem. n Shiftingswitchfunctionsettings ThisfunctionchangesthefunctionsoftheST6770andSWR600shifting switches. n Rearderailleuradjustmentsettings Thisfunctionadjuststhegearshiftingbytherearderailleur. Problemdiagnosis Whenasingleunitormultipleunitsareconnected,thisfunctioncheckstheir operationandidentifiesanyunitswhichhaveaproblem. However,thisdoesnotmeanthatallsuchproblemscanbediscovered.In addition,thefunctiondoesnotfixanyproblemswhicharediscovered. Updatefirmware Thisfunctionisusedtoupdatethefirmwareforeachunittothelatestversions. (ThefirmwareisdownloadedviatheInternet. Overwrite initial firmware Ifthefirmwarewhichhasbeenwrittentoaunitbecomescorruptedforreasons suchastheUSBcableoranelectricwirebecomingaccidentallydisconnected whileupdatingofthefirmwareisinprogress,theunitwillnotoperatecorrectly. Thisfunctioncanbeusedtooverwritethefirmwareforsuchunitsinorderto restorenormaloperation.

INSTALLING THE SM-PCE1 DRIVER


InordertousetheSMPCE1whileitisconnectedtoaPC,youneedtoinstallthedriverfortheSMPCE1. AfterinstallationofEtubeProjectiscomplete,connecttheSMPCE1andthePCusingthe USBcable.The installationwizardwindowwillbedisplayedautomatically. SelectInstallsoftwareautomaticallyandthenclick[Next]. * DependingontheenvironmentofthePCyouareusing,youmaybepromptedtoconnectto WindowsUpdatetosearchforsoftware.Ifthishappens,selectNo,notthistimeandthenclick [Next].

WhenconnectingtheSMPCE1tothePC,connectitdirectlytotheUSBportofthePC,withoutusingan intermediatedevicesuchasaUSBhub.

If there are no spare terminals


DisconnectoneofthecablesfromtheSMJC40,andconnecttheSMPCE1initsplace. * Fortheelectricwirebuiltintype(SMJC41),removetheSWR600fromthedesiredST6770,and thenconnecttheSMPCE1tothespareterminal.TheSWR600whichwasdisconnectedmustbe reconnectedelsewhere.

AfterinstallingEtubeProject,doubleclicktheEtubeProjectshortcuticononthedesktopwhichwas createdduringtheinstallationprocedure. IfthePCisconnectedtotheInternet,checksforupdatestothelatestfirmwareversionsandapplication updateswillbecarriedoutwhentheapplicationislaunched.

User verification
WhenyoulaunchEtubeProjectforthefirsttimeafterithasbeeninstalled,youwillbepromptedtoentera userIDandapassword. EntertheuserIDandthepasswordwhicharegivenintheServiceInstructionsfortheSMPCE1.

Launching requirements
InordertouseEtubeProject,theSMPCE1mustbeconnectedtothePC. WhentheSMPCE1connectionrequestdialogboxisdisplayed,connecttheSMPCE1tothePCusing theUSBcable.

Closing the application


SelectExitfromtheFilemenuonthemenubar. Alternatively,clicktheclosebuttoninthetoprightcorner oftheapplicationwindow. WhentheExitconfirmationdialogboxisdisplayed,click[OK]tocloseEtubeProject.

EtubeProjectcannotbeclosedwhilefirmwareupdatingisstillinprogress.

n Saveoperationlog Thissavesthelogdatainthelogwindow. SpecifythesavingdestinationandthefilenameintheSavefiledialogbox,andthenclickthe[Save] button. n Exit ThisclosesEtubeProject.

Functions
n Downloadfirmware Thisfunctionisusedfordownloadingthelatestfirmware. Whenthisfunctionisselected,alistofthelatestfirmwareisretrievedviatheInternet,andtheSelect firmwaredialogboxisdisplayed. Followtheinstructionsappearinginthewindowtodownloadthelatestfirmware. * ConnecttotheInternetwhendownloadingthefirmware. IfyouareusingaPCwithoutanactiveInternetconnection,awarningmessagewillbedisplayed andthefirmwaredownloadwillend. * Ifthereisnofirmwareavailablefordownloading,amessagetellingyouthiswillbedisplayed.

Thiscontainstheoperationsforcarryingoutunitmaintenanceandproblemdiagnosis.

Themainfunctionsareasfollows. Updatefirmware Thisfunctionisusedtoupdatethefirmwareforeachunittothelatestversions. (ThefirmwareisdownloadedviatheInternet. EtubeProjectwillcheckthatthereissufficientchargeintheSMPCE1beforeusingthevariousfunctionsin theoperationwizardwindow.(TheSMPCE1hasabuiltincapacitorwhichstoreselectricalpower.) IfthereisinsufficientchargeintheSMPCE1,theSMPCE1Chargingdialogboxwillbedisplayed,and chargingwillstartautomatically.TheLEDontheSMPCE1unitwillflashduringcharging.3 3

DonotdisconnecttheUSBcableortheelectricwires,removethebatteryorturnoffthepowerfor thePCwhileupdatingofthefirmwareisinprogress.

Whenconnectingthebatterytocarryoutfirmwareupdating,makesurethatthebatteryis sufficientlychargedsothatitdoesnotrunoutofchargewhileupdatingofthefirmware isin progress.

Ifyouclickthe[Cancel]button,updatingofthefirmwarewillbecanceled.However,itwillnotbe canceleduntilupdatingofthefirmwareforthecurrentunithasfinished.

Youcannotshutdowntheapplicationwhileupdatingofthefirmwareisinprogress.

Ifyouupdatethefirmwarewhilethebatteryisconnected,besuretodisconnectthebatteryand reconnectitagainafterthefirmwareupdateiscompletebeforeusingthebicycle.Ifyoudonot disconnectandthenreconnectthebatterybeforeusingthebicycle,thesystemmaynotoperate correctly.

If an error occurs while updating firmware


Ifanerroroccursduringupdatingofthefirmware,anerrorwindowwillbedisplayed. Ifanerroroccurswhileupdatingthefirmwareforaparticularunit,thatunitmaynotoperatecorrectly.Be suretorepeatthefirmwareupdateforsuchunits.
